About

Abyss Psychotherapy is about being with you when you are in the dark. Working from an integrative perspective, we explore what's happening for you now and how to actively shift forward. If that's too painful, we sit and wait until it's safe to do so.

Q&As

Having the privilege of holding space for clients. When given space, emotions can take over a room. Together, we safely release emotions in session and bring ourselves back to baseline before closing so you are never leaving a session with an open wound. I love being able to integrate various therapies and techniques to uniquely support each client's needs. This can look like DBT skills for coping, mindfulness for somatic awareness, CBT techniques to improve communication and clarity, or parts work to identify and validate the parts of the self that arise in session and out. There is no one size fits all, therefore we work to first establish a strong therapeutic relationship. It's such an honour to witness clients begin to trust me, feel safe in my presence and their own, and allow themselves to show up fully as they are. The therapy space is one of the only spaces in our world where we are free to break, burn, and hurt and in these moments, having someone to sit with you can be incredibly powerful. It is a privilege I do not take lightly.

It feels like today's world is one where so many more people are reaching out for help, there is so much more knowledge and awareness of mental health, however it is harder than ever to access that help. Some don't have the time, the money, or have been scarred by past experiences with therapy. I wanted to create a space where therapy is accessible late evenings and weekends, where it is affordable with sliding scale spots, and where there is no fear associated to freely saying taboo things like "I hate my kids/partner" or "I've been feeling suicidal" or "I self-harm" or "I use substances". The limits to confidentiality are thoroughly discussed in the first meeting and multiple steps are taken before ever breaking confidentiality to protect you or someone else. So bring your fear, your pain, your past and present. All of you is welcome and I will try my best to earn your trust so that feels true for you.

I offer flexible hours and rates. I also have experience working with clients of all ages, from children as young as 4 to older adults. I also strive to provide culturally responsive care and always work from a trauma-informed and focused perspective. I have extensive experience in mental health crisis work. Working with me, you will never feel a rush to talk about trauma or avoid it. You will never face pressure to stop using substances, stop self-harm, or feel afraid to discuss suicidality. We work collaboratively, going only where you feel safe to go, and working on what you want to work on.
