What makes a great website?

Where to start! Your website needs to reach (SEO, on and offline marketing activity) and appeal to your target customers (verified functionality and usefulness). This tends to be the the first stumbling block for many brands as they fall into the trap of designing a website based on what they 'think' looks good or works well. Customer insight is invaluable when designing or refreshing your site as you can ask past or potential customers what they think works well and what doesn't. For example, you could have a blockage within a specific user journey where it seems logical to you to move from one area of the site to another, but to your customers it doesn't. Of course, these aren't the only important factors when designing a website and that's why you need a digital marketing specialist - let's have a chat.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

This ultimately depends on the nature of the project, but common starter questions include:
* What are you trying to achieve? E.g. goals/objectives
* What have you done so far in terms of research and mock ups? It's ok if the answer to this is 'not a lot'. It's a shame not to make use of works completed prior to on-boarding with us, if it's usable, we'll use it.
* Who will be our main point of contact for the project for sign-off and communications? Are there any members of your team with specialist service and or product knowledge that we can speak to?
* Timescales
* Budget. We don't like surprises so this is very important in terms of outlining our scope of works. Unexpected costs can arise and we like to be clear as to what the initial fee covers and what happens if something needs to be actioned outside of the agreed scope of works.
* One-off/ongoing works. We can provide one off help such as audits and planning for channel marketing and we can also manage an element of your digital activity as a monthly rolling agreement. This is useful when it comes to planning client time. Current clients are more important than potential new clients, so we like to be sure we have allocated enough time to your project today, and in the future.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have a ten month old little girl (the cheekiest little mini me) and I couldn't bear to leave her five days a week. I have the experience required to consult thanks to my previous agency/client/freelance roles and a deep- rooted passion for digital, so I decided to take the leap for the flexibility and variety this way of working could offer my family. My core working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I work during the evenings in addition to this, but these are my days for meetings and focused works. Don't fret though, you can of course contact me any day of the week!
