I am a qualified midwife, and my years of experience in pregnancy and birth give me the knowledge to enhance my service in hypnobirthing, relaxation for fertility and pregnancy, and moving on from birth trauma. I am also experienced in caring for families during times of grief and loss, helping support you and your family during this difficult time. My service is solution focused, which means you don't have to relive the past - this is particularly useful if you're experiencing anxiety/depression and need help to move forward in your life and get help to shape the person you deserve to be.

Amanda is such a lovely, warm person. I felt at ease with her the moment I met her. She has helped me recover from a nervous breakdown and get me back to work. We have had weekly sessions and these have helped me more than she will ever know. I can highly recommend her for hypnotherapy. You won't regret it and you'll never look back. Thank you so much Amanda. You have really made a difference to my life. I have gone from not leaving my bedroom to having a zest for life and making the most of it and returning to work. Forever grateful 💖 X x x

I will provide a space in which to help you process thoughts and emotions and work out why you feel the way you do and what you can do about it. It is the place where you can be yourself without judgement or being given unhelpful advice. The place I will be there just for you in that moment, listening, understanding and caring. It can be very daunting to reach out to someone for help and I am happy that you have found the courage to do so.

Coming to talk to someone about your deepest most personal thoughts and feelings takes a lot of courage. I will offer you respect, honesty and understanding which I believe will help you to look at your most challenging and painful experiences that you are finding hard to deal with. I believe very strongly in the sincerity and openness of the counselling relationship, and that is why I chose to qualify as a Person-Centred Counsellor.

I have experienced a number of issues, including: Abandonment at birth Transracial Adoption Drug Addiction Domestic Violence Death of my sibling I have been in the pits of depression and darkness, but I made a decision: that I could continue on this path or change my life. So I did the first year of a degree in Psychology, I also studied Life Coaching / Counselling courses Level 4/5, and believe in a balance between "textbook" knowledge and life experience, that you cannot really understand mental health, or real emotional trauma unless you have experienced it, or properly help anyone without studying in a formal way.

I was sceptical about therapy at first but Michelle made me feel so at ease allowing me to completely open up like I never have before, following this we come up with steps and an actionable process to follow to heal and within 2/3 weeks I felt like a new human, I can't recommend Michelle enough the way she has impacted my life in such a short space of time is a testimony to her work. I look forward to working with Michelle for the foreseeable future

There’s so much I love about being a therapist. High on the list would be the fact I love being around people who are willing to drop their guard and be real and authentic. Supporting people who are willing to get vulnerable in order to work on changing things in their life, working on their problems, or healing from trauma is as real as it gets. I feel comfortable and relaxed with in depth conversations and the opportunity to connect with people on that level always feels like a privilege.
Furthermore, I love being a part of something positive. When someone wants to improve, heal, change, or learn more about themselves, it feels like a pleasure to be a part of that process. Even when sessions are about things that can’t be ‘improved’ in a traditional sense, such as divorce or uncoupling, I enjoy supporting clients to do so in as healthy way as possible to allow people to heal and move forward with their lives more quickly and peacefully.
My own journey on the road through heartache, trauma and loss has lead me to becoming a therapist. Having done a lot of my own, and continual personal development, I know you can only take clients as far as you’re willing to go yourself, so I bring a huge amount of compassion, empathy and understanding to sessions. I love being able to give back and support those also wanting to improve their own lives and situations.
I have both learned experience, and lived experience, which allows me to provide a warm, non-judgmental space for you to be yourself, and speak freely without constraint. I have also sat on the other side of the therapist’s chair when I needed support, so I know the amount of courage, bravery, and strength it takes to come to therapy and look within. I have a huge admiration and respect for my clients, as well as a genuine wish to see them move from struggle to freedom within themselves and their relationships.
