Evan's Consulting Engineers Limited

‘20 Certificate of Excellence

Evan’s Consulting Engineers Limited is a privately owned multi-disciplinary Consultancy, with strong prominence in Specialist Civils, Bridge & Viaduct, Geotechnical, Industrial, Residential and Temporary Works design services for both the Public Sector like Highways England and Network Rail and the Private Sector like developers but also individual domestic property owners, like house extensions. As a design consultancy we get involved from a small structural residential building inspections and openings to load bearing walls to multi-span viaduct designs. It is the duty of every qualified structural engineer to review the possible hazards and assess the risks associated with any design under the Construction (Design and Management) CDM 2015 regulations. Hence, we don't provide quotes on Bark, or respond to cold requests without full description of what it is you require and contact details. Alternatively, contact us directly on the contact details on the left hand side. Please familiarise yourselves with your duties as a domestic client under these regulations below, which is the law and make sure your contractors are aware and competent with these regulations : https://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/cdm/2015/domestic-clients.htm Site visits are charged at £500 day. Domestic residential property advisory site visits are charged at £100 per visit within a 50 mile radius from either Birmingham or Redditch. For site visits outside the 50 mile radius we may have to charge extra for commuting. All property extensions and most architectural and planning proposals queries will require a site visit from one of our engineers to verify the specific property details and requirements. Structural calculations to building regulations may not require site visits if architectural plans indicating proposed locations of required structural members are available. For most opening creation queries to load bearing walls, a site visit will be required. Openings to load bearings walls are not as simple as one may think. Building control don't have the time to inspect every design and more times than none they just look at the span arrangements and load details and accept the design. However the complexity many times is with and perhaps not limited to: 1. With hidden critical elements; 2. Load bearing wall materials and quality; 3. Serviceability requirements of any new load bearing beams; 4. Appropriate fixing and bearing of the beams to the cut walls; 5. Actual loads on beam which some times may be carrying roof loads not obvious to the naked eye; 6. Ground conditions; 7. New foundation requirements as the loads may now be concentrated over a shorter foundation length; 8. Possible need of a portal structure; 9. Temporary shoring requirements; 10. Bearing of any temporary shoring; Please contact us via email or contact number on the left and describe the issues, so we can arrange a site visit and assess what needs doing?

What do you love most about your job?

My motto is to provide economical and affordable services without taking away from quality. We take pride in the high quality and at the same time expeditious and economical services.

Our job however, involves civil(ian) engineering and as such we need to have a level of interfacing our clients and we make sure we engage in a friendly, constructive way with them, which makes it also satisfactory to us.

Site visits enable us to meet with interesting clients and places.

What inspired you to start your own business?

The Company has been trading since 2012. It was created by Evan Vrysoulis, as a means of generating additional income when he was employed by Tony Gee & Partners. Previously Evan was employed by WSAtkins and before that by SGI Ingenerie Sarl partaking in various major infrastructure, building, housing and industrial projects.

Evan has almost 30 years of design and implementation experience of large scale public and private sector projects, in both the UK and abroad.

Initially the company provided services to other consultancies, many times with Evan as the director outsourcing his services as a fire fighter services to projects that have gone wrong or to train younger engineers and providing specialist design services.

This was not best use of the 25 years of highly technical experience in major projects around that globe and the company is now trading directly with clients, contractors and consultancies under the name Evan's Consulting Engineers Limited providing design, design management and investigation services.

Why should our clients choose you?

Although small in size we consider ourselves boutique designers which produce extremely high quality deliverables, however at much smaller costs to your average large consultancy. Due to our low overheads structure we ensure designs are of the Highest Quality, Innovative, BIM Level 2 Ready and at the same time, Efficient, Expeditious and Economical which will impress your clients and maximise your profits.

We tackle all types of projects within our scope and we don't exclude clients purely based on low value or scale of projects.

We are fully accredited with all major certification bodies, including UKAS ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Operational Health and Safety ISO 18001 and various other and have a dedicated management system.
