Bathroom Fitters Near Me

Bathrooms are one of the most used areas of any home. Not only will updating your bathroom improve the look of your property, but it could increase the value of it too. From floating vanity units to sleek tiling, jacuzzi bathtubs to underfloor heating - there are endless ways you can upgrade your bathroom. The key is to choose the right contractor for the job who can bring your vision to life.

Finding local bathroom contractors could not be simpler with Bark. Browse recommendations from other satisfied customers to help decide which company would work best for you.

How to plan your Bathroom Renovation

Firstly, you need to communicate with your contractor what isn't working about your existing bathroom. For example, a lack of storage or a poor layout. From there, they will draw up a plan to incorporate your requirements. It’s also a good idea to think about colour schemes and the materials you wish to use. Be sure to leave plenty of time to research your buying decisions before the work starts.

It’s possible to leave the ordering of all the items up to your contractor. However, you may want to take care of this yourself if you have specific ideas about what you want, or if you plan on buying your items from lots of different suppliers. Any items you do order will need to be done so far enough in advance for them to arrive in time.

Are there any hidden costs associated with hiring a Bathroom Installation expert?

As well as labour and material costs, your contractor may also charge for additional services like disposing of waste safely. The best way to avoid unexpected costs is to ask about any additional fees with your professional upfront. It's also worth shopping around and requesting quotes from different individuals and companies to get the best price.

How much does a new Bathroom cost?

The cost of a new bathroom mostly depends on the size of the project and the spec of the finish. For example, a small downstairs bathroom with a toilet and sink will be far cheaper to complete versus a full renovation in a large family bathroom. The total cost factors in both the materials and labour. If you need to move out during your bathroom renovation, then you should include the cost of a hotel too. As with any renovation, be financially prepared in case the project runs slightly over budget.

What to look for in a Bathroom Contractor

When undertaking any work in your home, you must choose a company or independent contractor who is not only competent but will listen to the brief. Ideally, they should have extensive experience in designing and installing bathrooms. A skilled bathroom contractor will be able to give you the best advice about your ideas and be an excellent problem solver. As well as having a look at their work, it’s vital to meet with them beforehand to ensure they are trustworthy and reliable.

Can I get a Bathroom Installation online?

Most bathroom installers have some form of online presence, whether it’s a website, social media, or even a profile on Houzz. As bathroom remodelling needs to be done in person, the service cannot be accessed completely online. Though, it is possible to access several online bathroom visualisation tools, such as RoomSketcher which can help you get a better idea of what you want to achieve before hiring a contractor.

What credentials should a Bathroom Contractor have?

All bathroom contractors should have some form of professional accreditation, such as BiKBBI or KBSA. Always research your bathroom contractor before contacting them. Look at their work online and read customer reviews. When you contact them, they should also be able to supply work examples. This will give you an idea of the standard they can achieve if you choose to go with them.

Different types of Bathroom Installations

  • Ensuite - Ensuites are convenient additions for busy family homes because they reduce the demand for the main bathroom. They are usually smaller than regular bathrooms, and include a toilet and sink, and if space permits a shower. Ensuite bathrooms are accessed through bedrooms, which adds a degree of privacy, especially in shared housing.

  • Downstairs bathroom - Having a bathroom downstairs is ideal for guests or those with mobility issues. Typically, downstairs bathrooms tend to be positioned under stairs or in converted cloakrooms. They are smaller in size meaning they usually contain just a toilet and sink. However, in bungalows or larger properties, it’s also possible to have a generously sized downstairs bathroom installed.

  • Small bathroom - Small family bathrooms are fairly typical but can present challenges when it comes to fitting in everything you need. Additions such as showerbaths are flexible in size, meaning you don’t have to miss out on having a bath. Likewise, vanity units can provide some much-needed storage while doubling up as a sink. An experienced bathroom contractor will help you get the most out of the size you have to work with.

  • Large bathroom - When space isn’t an issue in your bathroom, you can create a much grander vision. For example, a standalone bath, his and her sinks, a separate shower and of course, plenty of storage! A large bathroom is likely to be more expensive to complete but will be a very well-used investment in your home. The key is to include all of the features you require while retaining that spacious feeling. A large bathroom may also allow for wider windows, which will flood the space with natural light.

What is involved in a Bathroom Remodel?

Whether you have a small bathroom, ensuite, or large family bathroom, a bathroom renovation takes a lot of planning and preparation. Most bathroom renovations include ripping all the current fixtures and fittings out and upgrading everything with new items. Though, it’s also possible to do simple renovations if you are on a budget, especially with bathrooms that don’t require extensive work doing to them.

Depending on whether you use one contractor or lots of independent tradespeople, it may be necessary to move out of your property while the work takes place. This is especially the case if your property only has one bathroom. That’s because a full bathroom remodel takes 2 to 3 weeks on average to complete, so can cause some disruption while the work is in progress.

Many trades such as plumbers, electricians, joiners, and decorators can be required to complete a bathroom renovation.

What do you love most about your job?

I really enjoy meeting new clients and getting a good understanding of their requirements / space. This allows me to produce designs that are innovative and maximizes their space! I love the feeling of bringing peoples ideas to life or suggesting what i feel would work best based on my experience!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I wanted the freedom to be able to think outside of the box and not be restricted to simple modular designs found at other companies. I can now after 25+ years of running my own business finally take weekends off to spend with my family which I am grateful for. I wanted a business that I could be proud of, which I am, and offer amazing solutions to spaces at competitive prices compared to national firms.

Why should our clients choose you?

As mentioned above, we would class ourselves as a regional firm but not quite national one. We have worked from York all the way into Liverpool! (Previous clients from Leeds who have moved away and asked us to travel) We are a close nit, family run team which allows us to give a very cute one to one service with every client. You get our full attention and wont be passed around from 'sales rep 1' to 'sales rep 2'. Everything we do is based around you from the design, to budget, to timescale, to aftercare! Our sole focus is not necessarily 'hitting the sale target this month' but more making sure our clients have received the service they deserve, they feel valued and got good value for money with the products they sign off on.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

We are able to give estimate prices via email if measurements and a description is sent over to us, but we will never confirm a price until we have actually undertaken a home visit and can confirm measurements etc.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Everything we do is based around our clients. Before every appointment we always use 99.99% bacteria gel on our hands. We only ever have one person on a home visit unless stated otherwise and when we invite you in store to confirm your order - you always have the full showroom to yourself, you will be the only person booked in for that time slot! (We may have someone walk in which cannot be helped but we advise them we have a booked appointment and arrange another time for them to come back)

Refitted front door seal, and levelled and tiled front porch floor. Really happy with the work carried out. Super quick response, good communication and advice, and completed quickly and professionally. Would definitely use again for other jobs.
