A level personal trainer based in Rochester. I’ve always had a keen interest in many sports, but my passion for health and fitness came when I turned 19 and joined my first gym. I had no previous experience or knowledge about training and nutrition so began to research through reading and by watching training videos on how I could improve my physique and strength. Due to this lack of knowledge and conflicting information that’s around, results were slow and it took time before any noticeable differences could be seen.

I started my career as strength and conditioning coach at the U of Maryland in 1982. In 1986 I moved to L.A. California and become director of health and fitness programs at The Beverly Hills Health and Fitness Club. I then moved to England in 1998 and began my private practice at The RHC in August of 1999. There are 3 parts to my training program. Your nutrition program Firstly, I will give you a nutritional pack with basic fundamental nutritional information. Some of it you may already know but I don’t know what you know. We will use a food diary to track you eating habits and give me some idea of your typical day is like. I’m actually more concerned with what you’re not eating. The diary will help me identify certain trigger points. When we are done you will have a sound understanding of food and its effect on your body. Good or bad. You will understand the importance of combinations, timing and how to still enjoy a good meal or the occasional take away. No more guess work. No more fad diets. Your weight training program You will have your own personal workout diary. I document every exercise, machine, weight and rep we do. There are 2 phases to this program. Phase 1 is foundational conditioning. Basically you’re getting in shape to start getting in shape. This phase also will allow us to determine if there are any issues we may need to adjust to without hurting you. Phase 2 is functional conditioning. This part of the program is where we begin to increase the level of intensity. The workouts are more sophisticated and specific to your goals. I will teach you how to put a proper resistance training program together. What body parts to work in combination with other body parts? You will be comfortable and confident with all of the machines. And the most important thing of all, proper weightlifting technique. This will ensure you safe and pain free lifting for many years. Unfortunately this is something no longer taught to PT’s along with doing a risk assessment or a “risk and reward” approach. You will be able to track your progress and it ensures we don’t fall into rut which can to lead boredom. You will be able to walk into any sort of gym or fitness centre anywhere and confidently put together a safe and effective workout. Your Cardiovascular and fitness program Your cardiovascular program will be designed by me using the Karvonan Method. The Karvonan method is considered the gold standard of fitness conditioning. It allows me to tailor your fitness program specifically to your age, sex, weight and physical conditioning. No 2 programs are ever the same. Once we get your fitness to a certain level this will allow me to introduce HIIT to your fitness program. Much like the weight training program the Karvonan allows us to track you fitness improvement. Structure We sit down and put together a structured training schedule for you. We decide how much time you can honestly devote to this. You will make the decision. Not me. People do better with structure also it helps me to know on what days you are to be in the gym and what you are supposed to be doing. Education Most importantly is the sound science based education you will ultimately walk away with. Once you have it, you can use it for the rest of your life. No different to learning how to read or do math. You only have to learn it once and then it becomes second nature to you. The great thing about the nutritional program, weight training program and fitness program is you can actually track and see your improvement. Numbers don’t lie and nothing is more motivating than being able see all that work is really paying off. Nobody gives up when thing are going well and working in the right direction. Resistance training. 2. Educated nutrition. 3. Cardiovascular program. The resistance training you will do with me. I will design your nutrition but more importantly i will teach you what to eat , when to eat and how avoid to bad stuff. The cardio program has two components to it. Cardio for health and fitness , cardio for weight loss. I will teach you how and when to do both. I will also teach you time management and self motivational techniques for those difficult times.

Do what I tell you, and you will get everything you want. The last thing would be ,no matter what adversity come's into your life never, ever give up.
