I started taking guitar lessons at The Musiclab because although I had a guitar for some time, I just wasn't motivated enough to practice and learn on my own. I have been taking lessons for two years now and love it. I am in a group with some great people and really enjoy the lessons. My playing has improved massively. Musiclab also encourage all their students to play live in their Gigs. I had never thought of playing before with others but I love it! It is such fun and the atmosphere is so kind and well natured!

He sends music sheets and videos of him playing (perfectly!) to help me learn. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn guitar as a beginner like me.

I never thought I would find such a teacher in the local area.
As a virtually self-taught double bass player, I can do some things quite well and others terribly. The G4 method is rigorous yet sufficiently flexible to achieve results from all standards of musician. Matched with Shane's immense skill, knowledge and experience, I am now on a path to addressing the gaps in my musical ability and becoming the musician I want to be.
Shane also teaches my son bass guitar. He has progressed greatly in just six months, loves his lessons and is motivated to practice. Shane is a great mentor, always patient and supportive but driving us to achieve our best.

Here are just a few of the people I've worked with: Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, The Everly Brothers, Ray Charles, Rick Wakeman, Shirley Bassey, Ringo Starr, Three Degrees etc etc and Jazz icons: Jean Luc Ponty, Dave Brubeck, Barney Kessel, Stan Getz, Jiggs Wigham, Shake Kean, Art Farmer, Michel Colombier etc etc.
Given that music and guitar are my passion as well as my profession, I then have great satisfaction in passing on to others.
I have been involved with music since the age of 13 and a pro session guitarist since the age of 18. It wasn't one specific thing that inspired me to start my own business, it was just a natural progression.
The guitar teaching world is top heavy with people who are not really qualified. Meaning, people who only know a couple of chords and a pentatonic scale are masquerading as qualified guitar teachers. To have worked with the people that I have, one has to be a top level pro, meaning to be able to sight read, know music theory to a very advanced level, know every chord and scale and how to apply them to any style of music, and have many years experience in the music business working with the biggest names in television, film and live performance.
In addition to teaching students at my home I also teach online via Skype.
Moved all my students who have lessons at my home onto Skype for the time being.
