He met with us before our wedding and spent time going through his and our ideas. Then on the day he was just fabulous. So great with everyone and he made children feel at ease with his calm way. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There is no secret in having to be in the right place at the right time... everything is considered, everything in the frame should be part of the story, the split second captured determins the mood and emotions. The secret is hard work and experience, seeing situations develop, working out the best place to stand - then doing that constantly throughout the whole day to build a portfolio of great shots for every wedding.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I like to listen to the couple and get to know them a little, what sort of photographs they like and whether they have any particular shots in mind.
What do you love most about your job?
Being a wedding photographer is the best job in the world. Photographing people enjoying themselves on the best day of their life, what's not to like? The pressure of capturing brief moments which can't be posed or repeated can be huge, but I enjoy the challenge. With every wedding being different new challenges and excitement, keeping me on my toes.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My Dad was a keen amateur photographer. I asked for a camera for my 8th birthday and have been taking photographs ever since and photography formed a large part of my degree in Graphic Design. The first wedding I photographed was for my sister-in-law. Shortly afterwards I set up John Leech Studio having got the bug to photograph many more weddings.

I've been photographing weddings for over 15 years and strive to develop and challenge myself to make each set of photos better than the last. I put you and your guests first, it is your day and not mine. I work tirelessly through the day to get the very best shots I can. I hope you enjoy my sample gallery.
