Jack taught me A-level biology during my time at sixth form and was undoubtedly the reason I have been working towards a target of A/A*. Jack has taught me content as well as gone through endless past paper questions to ensure I understand all topics in depth. I highly recommend Jack as a tutor since all his lessons were highly engaging and were made so complex topics were easier to understand. More...

Couldn’t rate Jack highly enough. I have been really impressed during his time tutoring my daughter. He has a great way of getting his students engaging in the sessions (no small feat when it comes to teenagers), very reliable, helpful and adaptable. Worked wonders on my daughters confidence and self belief. Would absolutely recommend Jack for science tutoring. More...

Tutoring

Jack has been tutoring my son for GCSE science for the last 2 years. The sessions are well-structured, with email feedback and copies of the resources used sent at the end of each session. Jack regularly asked my son to complete self-assessments so that he could judge his own confidence in topics, and structured the sessions so that they worked alongside the school lesson plans.

Jack's sessions have had a huge impact on my son's confidence in his own ability in science. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Jack has been tutoring my daughter for GCSE science for the last couple of years. The sessions are well thought out and structured to her own assessment of confidence at topics, and from Jacks own view of her progress, with regular reassessment. Jack has been flexible in rearranging sessions on occasion and all are followed up with a short review of the session with the revision notes attached.
My daughter is one of those teenagers who tends to take an instant like / dislike to some people! She has enjoyed working with Jack, finding him very friendly and approachable. Very glad he was recommended to us in the first place, and would highly recommend him to others.

Tutoring

We started talking with Jack a couple of months' before arranging my son's summer tuition. I found from the first conversation that Jack would be a perfect fit for my son and I wasn't wrong.

My son had failed his Science Chemistry year 10 mock exams and was struggling with his Biology too: his least favourite subject was Chemistry and by the end of the summer lessons (we did 12 sessions) Chemistry was my son's preferred science topic.
Jack has shown patience and from the feedback from my son- each lesson he enjoyed and in his words "he learnt more from Jack than he has from any lessons at school".

I couldn't compliment Jack enough, he has kept me up to date during the whole process and each session has been a key stepping stone in my son's development. He is no longer worried about the subject and is really pleased in himself.

If anyone is thinking about working with Jack - I wouldn't hesitate: what a great teacher.

Thank you so much for what you have done for my son Jack.

Jack was brilliant at explaing things clearly and breaking difficult topics down into more manageable chunks. My soon has improved greatly with his help and is now a competent and confident biologist, due mainly to the help he got through Jack. Thanks again Jack for working with him so patiently. More...

Under Jack's tutelage I improved massively in Biology. Over 6 weeks we covered my weakest topics and also did a great deal of targeted practice on synoptic essays and past papers. Jack's ideas for tweaking my exam technique when answering questions made a massive contribution in ensuring I achieved an A. More...

Really kind, easy to ask questions to and didn’t make me feel bad about not knowing anything. Got to choose what we did and how it was done (going through content or doing exam questions). Highly recommend

Q&As

I love teaching science, working with students 1-1 and seeing their progress is extremely rewarding. The relationships I build with my students make this even more rewarding.

I have been a secondary school teacher and head of progress for several years. As my role in school becomes more senior, tutoring enables me to stay in touch with what got me into teaching in the first place, a love of science!

I take on a very small number of students at any one time, this ensures I am able to dedicate time in planning each session to the individual needs of the student. I build great relationships with my students and have a proven record of improving grades over time.

Yes. Sessions can be offered online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. All resources will be sent to students/parents following sessions.
