Sam has a way of taking photos which are candid, organic and beautiful. I've admired her work for long time and when the opportunity came for me to have my photos taken during my pregnancy, it was always going to be Black Cravat taking them. Although we haven't seen my pics yet (wedding was only last week) I have no doubt that we will be thrilled to pieces with them.
Sam is a WONDERFUL person to have around, and was just fantastic on the big day. Sam had regular contact with us, and really took the time to get to know us as a couple.
We chose Sam because of the unique and fun way she catches images, the way she catches a personality as well as the real mood of the day was 100% what we wanted.
Sam has a way of working with the camera which is very fluid like this is what she was born to do! She really works with you and seems to know exactly what you want. I will be using Sam for future shoots, no doubt in my mind.

We were lucky enough to have Sam come and do our wedding photos in 2013 and we were delighted with them! We had so many amazing comments about them.
We actually own a wedding venue ourselves and we were so impressed that we went on to make Black Cravat our resident photographer (and have so many pleased couples as a result).
When I was pregnant with our twins in 2014, Sam took some incredible bump photos and then we had a shoot in 2015 of our three children. The girls were NOT playing ball but Sam still managed to get some beautiful, great shots of them.
Sam is very energetic and likeable and lovely to have around on your big day. She is a little lady with an enormous talent and is so unique and original with her ideas.
I cannot recommend her enough.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The subject!... and a little intuition.
I hate posed photographs with strained expressions.
Primarily I am a portrait photographer - I'm all about personality!
You've got to be great with people and quick enough to catch the moment - I am both!

I love everything about my job.
I have a fantastic career where i get to work with wonderful people and make pictures that people treasure forever.
I get free tickets to loads of cool events.
I get to eat much more wedding cake a year than the average person.
It's all pretty spangly lovely really.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I grew up influenced by a wonderful photographer. We played around with little photography projects often. He wore the most wonderful collection of beautiful Cravats. We were the best of friends.
When he died suddenly in 2009 I was devastated. The choice was sink or swim.
I immersed myself into learning photographic techniques and mastering digital software on my own.
Inspired by him and his rule of wearing only black when he meant business,
Black Cravat was born.
Why should our clients choose you?
People start off thinking they may want to hire me because I make some very VERY cool pictures, but more importantly - i believe that as well as being very good at my job, i am actually a pretty all round decent and likeable Human.
I'm very laid back with people yet ferociously focused on creating my clients incredible pictures.
My many glowing references confirm that i am not only pretty lovely but that i continue to exceed professional expectations.
