What makes a great website?
A website should have instant impact and hopefully a 'wow' factor - using fantastic original photography, graphic or video. The website should be quick to load and then be obvious (with the majority of businesses) of the nature of the business, with clear branding and readable, well written introductory text. The browser should be able to easily navigate the website, plus there should always be a clear call to action - ie. telephone, email, contact form.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Obviously discuss what the nature of your business is and what design elements we at Skim can provide. So, does the business need branding with a new logo, printed material, website design. Plus assistance or advice about promoting a new website.
What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Preparation and lighting are key to a fantastic image, however there are many elements to a great photograph and I really depends on the subject matter.

Describe your creative process.
We want to provide a positive response to our client's design and design related requirements. To discuss with the client what they want and then guide them through the process, making it as enjoyable as possible, our aim is for happy client, who will continue to want to work with us for many future years.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Simply which design requirements they have, explaining as much about their business or project as possible. We love to meet our clients, but obviously sometimes that is not feasible, so telephone, email and skype are all great instant form of communication!
What do you love most about your job?
The variety of different projects we are fortunate enough to work on and the interesting people we get to meet. It is really satisfying to help a good business idea get off the ground, and for the client to be happy and proud of their logo, brand, photographs, website etc..
What inspired you to start your own business?
The love of design, music, photography and technology then spurred us on to work for ourselves within this industry. We have now worked for over 2 decades as our independent team and wouldn't change it.

We are passionate about what we do and give 100% effort and commitment to all our clients whatever the size or type of job. Our aim is to make our clients happy and raise their business to the next level of professionalism, helping them stand out from the crowd. We are not a big team, therefore we talk through your job and design needs and then we do the work, no middle man/woman.
