Bex Fennell Counselling

Hi, I am Bex and I am an Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor with over 20 years’ experience of working within mental health. I know that seeking counselling can be a daunting process, however, I offer a warm, supportive and non- judgemental space where we can explore any issues that could be preventing you or your child from living a more fulfilling life. I have worked within a variety of communities and cultures offering mental health support for individuals that have experienced a one – off traumatic event to years of constant suffering with their own emotional well-being, striving for a happier life. My years of training and experience in becoming a counsellor have taught me that each client is unique with their own perspective and understanding depending on their context and experience- it is my work to sit alongside you and understand your pain, finding a way together to alleviate some of the suffering whilst trusting your own feelings and intuition. You may not always know what you want from this process and that might be something you discover during our work together, this is time for you to be heard and understood. I believe a therapeutic relationship can be a powerful tool for change and alongside this I offer a variety of interventions that you can use and adapt to suit your needs, taking away your own tool box of strategies to support your life after the counselling process has finished. I specialise in bereavement, anxiety, childhood trauma and sexual abuse. I have experience of working with additional needs, specifically Autism in both men and women and have worked for agencies offering counselling for survivors of sexual abuse, bereavement and loss and adolescent trauma.

What do you love most about your job?

I love to experience people grow and progress, understanding and making sense of what makes them the way they are and how this journey can support a more fulfilling life in the future. Alleviating some pain and acknowledging the hurt in a safe, non judgemental space can really validate feelings that may have been pushed aside in the past and sitting alongside this can be a real privilege.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I wanted to reach out to people that were suffering and after working for other agencies for 20 years I took the opportunity to set up by myself, COVID lead me to take on training in online and telephone counselling and this seems to have been preferred by many clients.

Why should our clients choose you?

Choosing a counsellor can be really difficult, it needs to feel right and you need to feel comfortable. I offer a free 15 minute, no obligation, consultation where you can get a feel of how I work and if you think I could help. If you come with an issue that I think would be better suited to a different kind of counsellor, I will let you know and support you with finding this. My approach is to meet you as an individual, you are the expert on your life and I will sit alongside you with your pain or worry and we can find a way of coping that fits best with you and your life, my model of work brings in different approaches to tailor interventions that work in a way that you are in control of them and take away tools to support you in the future.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I only offer telephone or online (zoom) counselling

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
