My fiancé and I ordered a cake tasting from Ms. Regina because we wanted a special cake for our engagement party and the flavors listed on her website caught our eye. We sampled four cakes (sweet potato, butter pecan, pecan pie, and salted chocolate caramel) and took care to sample both the cakes and the icing individually before eating. EVERY. SAMPLE. WAS. INCREDIBLE. We finally decided on Pecan Pie because we couldn't resist the filling in the middle. We ordered a 16 inch round cake, which I didn't even know they made. At the engagement party quite a few people told me the cake was too pretty to cut. One of the guests told me out loud that she wasn't leaving without some cake, and I needed to hurry up and cut it so she could take it home. When we did cut that cake, you could HEAR people eating it. People assessing it. People asking WHERE DID THE CAKE COME FROM? One person refused to eat it at the party because she wanted to experience it in silence. All I could do was BASK in joy because Ms. Regina set my engagement party over the top with her cake. I’ve been baking since I was old enough to hold a whisk and learned while baking with my great grandmother. For the majority of my life, I’ve kept to baking for family, friends, and personal enjoyment. I didn’t consider baking as profession because I mistakenly thought it would take the joy out of baking. In 2018 I started baking for the public to finance my children’s summer enrichment program enrollment and there’s been no looking back. Baking as a profession didn’t steal my joy it magnified it. The jubilation that I feel when I see a customer’s face light up at the sight of their cake or when I receive a text or DM that the cake surpassed all their expectations is absolutely the best feeling in the world.
