The ability to add quality to any photograph has technical aspects and a "secret sauce". Lighting, color, focus, and depth are basic technical elements that are addressed by a photographer with their particular quality lens and camera. I enjoy utilizing these fundamental features to craft a beautiful photograph. The "secret sauce" is the measure of intrigue, detail, and texture that grab the eye and appeals to the imagination in captivating ways. Many times these ingredients tell a story that transcends the immediate moment and becomes memorable for years to come. Let’s tell your amazing story in beautiful photographs!
I try to ask questions that tell me as much as I can process about what the images are to accomplish in the months, years and decades to come. My questions are typically
(1) What would you like your colleagues, clients or community to see in your photographs?
(2) How did you feel after your last photograph of this type?
Although there are details that must be secured about the date, time, subject and location of a series of images. I mostly want to know what is expected of the images long after they are delivered to the client. The timelessness of photography is what makes it so very compelling.
I’m surprised that there is so much curiosity about the equipment. Don’t get me wrong, I like all my stuff. The camera and all of the equipment intrigue me. Yet, they are only tools. The technical only exists to serve the story that needs to be conveyed in the imagery. I am thrilled to be engaged in the whole process too. The tools will not work unless my eye, mind and fingers are fully engaged. Of course, all of this is nonsense, unless your story is not told. That is why you are reading this anyway, isn't it?
I am a story teller. I have spent so many years teaching classes and giving speeches. Those elements of communication have been recorded in the minds of my students, colleagues and congregants. Perhaps they are stored somewhere on some kind of media. I wanted to devote my remaining years to communicate through imagery that will outlast my time on earth. Frankly, I'm running out of time. In starting my own business, I wanted to operate independently to pursue the imagery that will transcend the immediate events for which they will be utilized. These stories, sealed in the exhibit halls of the homes and offices of my clients will provide for me a great deal of eternal satisfaction!
I listen to my clients. I'm intrigued with their hopes, anxieties and even their reviews. Long before the cameras come out of the bag and the lighting is set up, my ears are honing in on my greatest asset, you. What my clients seem to enjoy is how they feel during the session with me. My tone of voice, jokes or demeanor are free with the price of my photography services. They are vital to the success of the project. When my clients can feel that they have been heard and attended to then it shows in the final images.
I’m able to communicate with my clients through Zoom, Facetime or by audio calls. I can deliver the photographs through shared folders or internet distribution websites.
I’m physically healthy due an active regimen. I’m comfortable operating in a mask and keep them available. I utilize lenses that allow me to maintain a suitable distance in close up shots. My equipment is cleaned prior to each project.
