FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS . . . What is a kids mystery? A kids mystery is an interactive event that enables your group to solve a challenging “case” by ferreting out and putting together facts that lead to identifying the person responsible for “the crime.” Do your mysteries involve a murder? The answer to that is “yes” and “no.” Our mysteries for younger kids DO NOT include a death. Instead, the kids are asked to put on their thinking caps to question each other and work in teams while figuring out who is responsible for what happened. Here’s what I mean . . . In The Colorful Case of The Swiped Sunflowers your group of younger kids will attempt to figure out who stole the new sunflowers from Clodhopper's Greenhouse before they could be displayed for the very first time. Your cadre of sleuths will be intrigued by this preteen mystery party that will "grow" on them. The Monstrous Case at The Seaside Inn is set at an inn where a strange monster keeps appearing on the ocean. Is it real or some sort of hoax? Your kids will find some interesting twists as they solve this mystery. You get the ideas – no deaths, just fun. If you are organizing an event for older kids or adults who want a murder mystery, we can accommodate that, too. Any of the cases at www.mysteries-on-the-net.com can be staged by our expert facilitators. Why should I book a kids mystery? Teens and preteens love the challenge of solving a mystery by using their powers of deduction - especially at a party or a special celebration. So, why not host a unique event that will be talked about for years to come? It will be a hit that can’t miss. How many kids can take part in the mystery? For a younger audience solving our non-murder mysteries, we recommend a group no larger than 25. Some of the kids will be suspects and the others will work to solve the case. Since even the guilty part doesn’t know who “did it,” everyone can work to solve the case. If you are hosting a murder mystery for older kids, as many as 40 investigators can be invited to your event. Who will facilitate my mystery? Your event will be facilitated by one of our nationwide cadre of teachers, magicians and professional actors who get into character and make sure that your kids are having a good time. You’ll be contacted by the facilitator before the event so that you get to know each other and make any final arrangements.
My facilitators and I are individuals who enjoy working with children. We love to create excitement and see the smiles on young faces as they work together, sharing laughs and the fun of solving a challenging mystery.
It was a dark and stormy night during a cold Wisconsin winter in 1982, and my friends and I were looking for a unique way to gathering and enjoy each other’s company. I had just watched the movie “Murder on the Orient Express” and was inspired to write my own mystery. It was a hit and became an annual event. An inveterate games player, I enjoy the challenge of solving puzzles and weaving together facts and details into memorable, entertaining experiences.
Soon, I was getting calls from my friends’ friends asking if I could organize a mystery for them and a business was born. Since then, I have authored and facilitated murder mystery events for clients across the United States and Canada. It started as a cottage mystery as a way to make it through the cold months, and has since become a thriving business. I now sell my complete murder mystery party kits around the world.
Now, I also conduct mystery writing boot camps during which I share my unique insights about developing and facilitating murder mystery parties. And, in my alter-ego as a speaker, trainer and consultant, I partner my mysteries with unique learning experiences that focus on team building, communications, negotiations and sales. These mystery seminars convey key skills in non-threatening, fun-filled programs.

Yes, we can facilitate the mysteries remotely via the internet. You have option of recruiting your own kids to portray the suspects, or of booking our troupe of actors to play the roles. We usually utilize Zoom, but can stage your mystery on any platform.
