I have been working with dogs in some capacity for over 16 years and for the last 4 years, i've been helping clients understand and train their dogs to go from good to great! I'm a Balanced Training and am capable of teaching puppy foundational skills and obedience, to modifying an aggressive dog's behavior to be a good canine citizen again, and everything in between. It’s a true passion of mine to help people learn what their dog's needs are and to help exercise, care for, train them.

Steve was great with our cat Ocho. He was extremely responsive when we reached out with a last minute request for the holidays. He sent us updates and pictures with each visit, and also had a detailed report waiting for us upon our return home. He even checked in to make sure we had returned on schedule in case he needed to provide any additional care to Ocho. Extremely reasonable pricing as well!

Fetch! Has been outstanding caring for our two dogs and one cat. The older dog has had several accidents and the caretakers have gone above and beyond to take care of the wood floors, wash the blankets and replace, they suggested an extra potty time to help the situation, which really helped! They love and care for our animals (and plants) as well as we would, and they take great pics of our fur babies! I am so comfortable leaving my pets and house in their care!

Mr. Chris was very patient and very good at his craft! Unfortunately COVID-19 has to stop our sessions but as soon as it breaks we are definitely calling him back!! My dog easily adapted and listen to him right away! He was even good at allowing my whole family which is about 7 of us to attend the sessions and get in on the training and I have little kids and even helped them. They are more confident with our puppy. Awesome trainer!!! I have been telling my other daily meme era about him!

We adopted a puppy and Joel/ the pack were so helpful in socializing/training him AND US. They also helped with his barking (gone) and patience (ongoing)! You know they’re good when you’re receiving compliments on your puppy when out in public!
I’m excited to see what else we can learn from Sally’s Way! Thanks Sally’s Way!!
Buck loves being a member of the PACK!

We adopted our pup, Bradley, from Rural Dog Rescue. Before we got him, he was fostered by one of the good folks at Dog-Ma and he loves going back to see his friends. He's always greeted happily by the staff, spends the day either running in the yard with his dog friends or relaxing inside with his people friends. He always comes home happy and tired (in a good way!).Dog-Ma is apparently the only District doggy daycare with an outdoor area where our dog can enjoy nice weather while we're at work.

I can't recommend Ruff and Ready enough. George was incredibly helpful with the 60+ lbs teen American bulldog my fiancé and I fostered. George had been working with our foster dog before we got him, and we were amazed at how well trained the dog was. George helped us understand the training and have the skills to reinforce it so our foster dog could be his best self and find a forever home. Our dog who'd passed away was a senior, small deaf terrier mix, so having a big American bulldog in his teens was something very new to us, and George was absolutely fantastic in teaching us how to continue working with the dog. George spent more than 1.5 hours the day we first received our foster dog going over all the basics until we were confident we had the fundamentals down. We also had several super helpful training sessions at our home so we could practice how to correctly enforce the training in various scenarios and locations. George answered each of my long, rambly, nervous emails with patience, kindness, encouragement and a deep understanding of my questions.George has an incredible ability to not just train dogs well, but train *us* as their human caretakers,  which I realized through this process is just as essential. George was really great at teaching me in a way that was consistent, motivating, and easy to understand. I was nervous because looking after and training a large powerful dog can be pretty intimidating when you have no previous experience, but George equipped me with the tools and knowledge necessary to do so and was always very responsive to email and phone calls when I had any questions or concerns. It can be an adjustment to follow a training "regimen" when you never have before, (e.g., using a prong collar) and it's easy to think the discipline is not what dogs want or need. That said, George taught me how critical it is for some dogs (e.g. a large bully breed), and how that's what our foster dog needed to be safe and be his best self and get the home he deserved. Trust me, the foster dog utterly LOVED George, who always knew how to balance correcting negative behavior, positive reinforcement, and play time. The time and dedication George has put into this dog in need of a home is admirable and says a lot about George's love of dogs and generous heart. We are forever grateful for all the training and encouragement we received, and for all George has done and continues to do for foster dogs. We will absolutely go to Ruff And Ready again when we get another dog, and I highly recommend you do the same, no matter what type of dog you have, even if it's just for a consultation session - it will change your life, and your dog's life, for the better.

The team at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital is awesome! I started using them with my dog Cooper when he was neutered and took my cat Sketch there recently when I was worried he wasn’t well. They gave me great information and options for Sketch and even called to check on him! Luckily he’s much better and it’s because of the great team. You can tell they really love what they do and they value their clients.

We have a Dutch Shepard and if you know a Dutch shepard they can be extremely difficult if not trained properly. We did not train him properly and he had gotten to a point where we wouldn’t even walk him, which wasn’t good for us or for him. We reached out desperate for help and couldn’t believe her prices because so many trainers cost soooooooooo much more in our area to train dogs. She came to our home and helped not only our dog Yoshi! But she taught us how to be better owners for our dog. She teaches you and is always there to answer any questions for you. I recommend pack leader help to anyone I know!

Melissa is the best dog trainer that I have worked with, in many years of owning dogs. She is clear, supportive, focused, and professional. At the same time, lessons are fun both for dog and owner. In both private lessons and classes, Melissa has taught me skills that lead to improved behavior and positive developments in my two-year-old Lab. I highly recommend Metropolitan Dog to dog owners in the DC area!

At The K9 Bond we love to assist clients with building a more understanding and positive relationship with their dogs. The head trainer, Chelsea, has created this company to help keep dogs out of the shelter system. She finds training extremely rewarding and is looking forward to having you as a future client.
Chelsea created The K9 Bond after achieving 3 certifications in dog behavior and training. She started her career working with dogs as a local D.C dog walker and pet sitter. When she noticed some of the behavioral issues dogs had, she decided to take action and educate herself about dog behavior and training. After working for a local D.C training company, she decided to create her own company where she could then apply a variety of her methods to individual dogs and clients based on their needs.
Chelsea does not apply a cookie cutter approach to training dogs. She has learned a variety of methods that can assist any dog and client to reach their training goals. She has extensive hands on experience with all types of breeds and temperaments, and also will teach the client on how to continue training for long lasting behaviors.
