We believe your time (& ours) is precious and that's why we won't waste your time or money. We use proven, science based positive reinforcement training. We call it Practical Training. No prong, shock, choke or other painful methods used. If you wouldn't do it to a 4 year old child, why would you do it to your animal? We build a lasting relationship between you and your animal in a positive, timely manner.

I’m a family dog trainer (member of IACP); my training methods are “relationship based. I will teach you how to build a rewarding relationship with your adult dog or puppy and training ourselves first is the best, and only way, to start! It is critical to establish a Behavior Foundation (behavior training) and House Rules for our dogs to add structure and calmness to their life.

We had an introductory meeting with Pete. He was outstanding orienting us as new "dog parents" to caring for and training our 1 1/2 year-old rescue dog and new 4-month old puppy. He provided very helpful written material to read and videos to watch before our next session in two weeks. We cannot speak highly enough of him personally and professionally, and we look forward to working with him in the future!

I am borderline neurotic when it comes to my dog. I interviewed and visited numerous day care and in-home boarding companies and never felt comfortable with any of them. Then I found JPM!They are fantastic! The facilities are clean and safe. The main outdoor courtyard where the pups play has a rubber floor like the kid's playgrounds. Trees and grass border it and there are fun, strings of lights overhead for nighttime play. Someone is with the dogs 24 hours a day. They carefully screen new clients and never take aggressive dogs. They have the best rates in the East Bay and San Francisco. They offer lots of options. 3 hour visits, day visits and overnight stays as well. They also have grooming, training and other services available.Even if you live in SF, this place is worth the drive to leave your pup for vacation. Anyway! Check it out!

This is a review for personal training sessions with Mike. I adopted my first dog, Charlie, a very sweet and submissive pit/lab mix. As soon as I got him, he started to become aggressive on leash towards other dogs. It escalated very quickly within a month and then this bad behavior started to spill over into off leash time at the dog park. I knew I was in over my head and started to reach out for help. I went to the SPCA because their classes seemed more affordable. I had used many personal training sessions and religiously went to training classes for both basics and aggression and the only progress we made was in me learning how to hide Charlie from other dogs. I was about 700 in the hole and Charlie had started to become anxious and was not able to enjoy the life he deserved. It was not from a lack of effort, I spent ~3-4 hours a day trying to help him through this. People were starting to tell me that I may just have to accept that Charlie was like this. I refused to allow my dog to live a life full of stress and anxiety so I kept talking to people and asking for guidance. A friend suggested I look into getting help from Mike. At the same time someone at a pet food store bad mouthed him and in the end I was confused and nervous but gave him a call anyway. I want to start by saying that Mike went out of his way to talk to me about what we should do over the phone without trying to charge me or cut me off. He was extremely patient, concerned and kind. He then met me at my home and did a behavioral assessment and gauged Charlie’s sensitivity to commands and corrections. Then in ONE SESSION, taught me how to gently and appropriately correct my dog without hurting him. He made sure that I knew what I was doing and was patient with us both. During that session we met other dogs and Charlie learned not to attack by using gentle. I repeated what Mike did and followed his instructions and now Charlie has done a COMPLETE 180!! He is now happy on and off leash! He is so much more relaxed knowing what is expected of him and it’s amazing to see that the fear and aggression that had built up so quickly instantly vanish with proper training on how to handle him and his fears!! Mike has been such a great teacher and I cannot be happier. Mike is wonderful and caring about dogs and their owners. He really takes time to understand what is going on and make sure that both the pet and the owner know how to deal with whatever the issues are. The freedom I now have to take Charlie everywhere has greatly improved his quality of life!! He gets to enjoy so many more things and I can keep both him and other dogs safe which is the most important. Our training sessions have also helped on so many other areas of obedience and you can see a dramatic increase in Charlie’s happiness. Mike was such a great trainer; I would recommend that if anyone is worried about the slightest thing, they should reach out to him. He is great and you can tell he cares because he never takes advantage or rushes you off the phone or out the door. The best thing is that he went over the logic of what the problems were and how to communicate easily with my dog, so now any dogs I have in the future will be in a better state because now I can be a better owner. Do not hesitate to talk to Mike, he is great and loves to help people and the furry little companions!!
