I have been in counseling off and on since I was in college and lost my mother to a drunk driver. I was worried I would not transition well when I had to change counselors after relocating to Texas, but I wanted to try and I knew I was not ready to move forward on my own. I think that navigating relationships and life changes is smoother when I have someone supporting me and allowing me to see each situation from every angle. I first started seeing Jeana in 2007 when I relocated to Texas after graduating from college in Connecticut. I was excited and scared to have a new adventure in front of me with a career in the corporate world. I was completely independent for the first time. I look back over the past 12 years and I can't help but feel such an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My counselor, Jeana, was there for me. We did not always meet regularly like we did in the beginning, but when I needed to talk or make a big decision, I could text her and I knew we would either have a phone call or a session within a couple of days. Once, I was laid off from a job and I was panicked. In the corporate world, this happens, but it was the first time it happened to me and it shook me up. We talked through it and within 3 months I was back at work. The thing that left me eternally grateful was the way Jeana handled my fears regarding the lack of income. She didn't make me pay her fee for those months that I was scared. I just paid what I felt I could at the time. She cared about me and what I was going through. I have since married and I have two children. She helped me deal with some anxiety during pregnancy and made sure she continued to offer support when I was on bedrest with my second child. A lot of my sadness returned as I experienced becoming a mother without my mom there by my side. I was able to handle the grief without falling into a depression because of the counseling I received. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to have a counselor in my life who has been there from the time I was 23 and just starting my career to now at 35 and sending my kids off to elementary school as I continue to grow in the corporate world. I know a professional when I see one. I am a highly educated, self-sufficient, married mother of two. I have had a stable life and I feel I have made positive and productive choices throughout my life. I have used counseling as a tool to cope with several life changes and challenges: the grief of losing my mom when I was 21; starting a career with many ups and downs including lay offs, an inappropriate boss and a big career change last year; marriage; pregnancy; returning to work after taking a few years off to be a stay-at-home mom. I was inspired to write this review because this past week, my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and I realized how comforting it is to know I have someone to call and talk to about my shock and fears. I sent her a text and within minutes, my phone rang. We talked, I cried and we talked some more. I decided to go in to see her and as soon as I hung up it was like this elephant that had been sitting on my chest got up and I could breathe again. I am just so grateful to have met and worked with Jeana off and on for 12 years. I believe I will always check in and meet with her here and there when life throws me a curveball. This is going to be one of the more difficult paths we walk together, but I feel more peaceful walking with someone who knows me so well and helps me so much. Her authenticity and caring nature are genuine and from the heart.

What I love most is having a front row seat to watch the growth and development of all those I get to work with. I enjoy the partnership, teamwork involved in taking an individual or couples from problem to solution, from hopelessness to optimism, and from frustration to confidence. I love learning so I gain from those I get to work with as much as they do me.
I was inspired by some coworkers I had who were my age but dealing with problems more associated with those older than us. They had children that, without intervention, they were in danger of not seeing them graduate high school let alone college or walk their daughters down the aisle. I wanted them understand that their health was still very much in their control if only they would seize it. I believed that if they knew better they would do better and I would hold them to that. They would have better relationships, marriages, and a greater opportunity for the best outcomes.
Clients should choose me because of my experience(15 years), my desire for their success, my determination in finding solutions, and my commitment to seeing them healthy, happy, and the best version of themselves.
