My name is Jan Verboom, I am a Photographer and I own Photographic Studios in Roodebloem Road in Woodstock. In 2007 I purchased a 400m2 severely dilapidated heritage building in Roodebloem Road, R3.7 million rands later, this building was morphed into the most amazing Chrysalis Dream. And it all started with an amazing architect, Mr Till Manecke The brief and purpose of the renovation was to transform the space into 2 amazing World Class Photographic Studios. We connected and reconfigured two residential properties to become two floors with a rooftop section that looks over the city. It was a heritage building, we replaced every window + frame + door. Building a concrete inner structure, it allowed us to maintain the clay brick exterior which was pinned to the concrete structure. Fourteen years later, not a day goes by that people don’t comment on the beautiful construction and design. Till’s design skills were put to the test here, besides his creativity what I loved is that Till and I synergised to make every little detail look stylistically amazing

Till has worked on several architectural projects for me over the last few years. In 2015 he supported us with doing a full renovation in a commercial property in Cape Town. Subsequently he has helped with a variety of design projects. I’m looking forward to getting into a new renovation in the next year. Till has been hugely accommodating and has brought fantastic ideas as well as professionalism and efficiency to each project. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with him once again.

Till met with us to design our dream home in Greyton. We had bought a vacant erf and wanted to build in stages. The exterior was informed by the heritage requirements of Greyton with a contemporary Cape Dutch feel. The main house with high ceilings and large central fireplace boasted open plan living areas opening onto a long covered patio overlooking the garden and views. Adjacent a large tandem garage and workshop was built. Till was able to take our ideas, improve on them, give great suggestions and created a beautiful space that was versatile for our growing families needs.
