What’s your interior design process?

Interior design, especially for large scale projects, is a complex process involving many different elements and individuals who need to work efficiently together in order to be successful. The following details are an overview of the process for most large-scale projects, but each project plan is tailored to the individual client and this is discussed in the initial consultation.

Niche Interior Solutions offers a comprehensive service that covers all bases, identifies potential pitfalls and assists clients in creating a practical, realistic plan to to reach their project goals.
Your first consultation allows the designer and the client to get to know one another a bit better and discuss the overall requirements for the project. This is also where youwill be asked about your budget requirements in order to allow us to make suggestions that fall within your budget and design preferences. Your design consulting estimate for fees will be worked out according to your needs and sent through for approval.

Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, you may be asked to supply building plans, existing furniture that will need to be allowed for, preferences on style, colour schemes and practical concerns. (I.E: Do you entertain a lot and need more space for this purpose? Do you have hobbies such as home DIY, crafting or children who need their own entertainment space? Do you work from home and need a home office space?)

The next step is for your designer to create a digital and/or physical mood board presentation for your consideration, any changes that need to be made and preliminary approval. We will then compile a comprehensive quote based on your selections and send this through for final approval.

Once you have approved your quote, you will be issued with a deposit request to begin the ordering, manufacture and sourcing according to your plan. At this stage, if you choose to appoint Niche Interior Solutions as your finishing project manager, your designer will contact any existing contractors to determine the progress of the project and create a tailored timeline and reporting system based on the information received. This includes securing all necessary contract documentation to protect you from unqualified contractors, fly-by-nights, delays due to contractor negligence etc. Your designer will also be on hand to assist with sourcing additional service providers and contracts that have not yet been appointed.

Our main focus in the large-scale, upmarket residential and hospitality sector where there is a need for comprehensive project management and customised interiors, however, we collaborate with other decorators for projects which fall outside of this sector to ensure that no client is turned away without assistance.

What inspired you to start your own business?

After spending a decade working in the industry and experiencing first-hand the frustration of clients who have been disappointed by contractors and manufacturers, my primary mission is to offer homeowners a far better experience through a safe and trusted network that I have built up throughout my career. The Garden Route is notorious for sub-standard services and contractors who take advantage of clients who are not experienced in the industry or who are unable to personally oversee projects. Very few companies offer a service that protects clients from these unscrupulous individuals and my aim is to ensure my clients' peace of mind and the security of their investments. Niche Interior Solutions only uses the best quality finishes, fittings, furniture suppliers and manufacturers, contractors and other service providers. We offer advice and sourcing of everything you could possibly need in your home including: the best builders and renovation experts, custom furniture, curtain, blind and lighting manufacturers, security solution providers, AV suppliers and installers, kitchen, cabinetry and appliance suppliers, contract furniture importers and suppliers and everything in between. We source bed linen, towels, kitchenware and even original artwork for clients to ensure that your every need and desire is covered.

Yes - remote contact is possible for most of our services.
Consultations can easily be done via Whatsapp, Zoom or telephonically and digitally using online project management platforms.
For clients with projects taking place in the George - Mossel Bay areas of the Garden Route who live far away (I.E. holiday homes, "semigrators" who are still building and clients who travel extensively) this includes site supervision with regular progress reports, photographic and video updates and consistent management of the project from start to finish. At this stage we are not able to provide physical site supervision countrywide, but we are planning to extend our reach in time.
