What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my job is being able to teach people and their dogs to communicate and trust each other. I love to see dog/owner teams learn that they can work together and have fun at the same time!

What inspired you to start your own business?

Starting my own business was something that came out of a huge change in how I saw dogs and the teaching/learning process. I have worked with dogs for almost ten years now and when I first started I used more aversive training methods. But as I used these methods I could see the dogs not wanting to engage in the learning process. They were not having fun and neither was I. When I mentioned my problems to a friend, she told me about positive reinforcement clicker training. I decided to look into it and loved it! The dogs I worked with began to learn much faster and enjoyed learning with me. Rather then shying away from training and simply waiting until I or the owners were not around to engage in unwanted behavior, the dogs I worked with started to seek out opportunities to learn and maintain their behaviors even when people were not looking! Seeing the benefit of this training method, I was inspired to help others learn how to use it with their dogs to promote clear communication and effective learning while also limiting stress. I love to see people and dogs let go of the stress of the process and learn how to communicate and understand each other while learning!

Why should our clients choose you?

Clients should choose me because I offer a unique view on how the dog thinks and communicates. I have observed and studied dog body language for as long as I can remember. Coupled with my professional level education in dog training, this observation and study has given me great insight into what dogs might be thinking and feeling and how that impacts learning. In addition to this, my degree in psychology and continuing education in science-based animal training techniques provides me with the understanding of the science behind behavior modification and communication skills.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I can provide my services both in-person and online. There are a few differences between in-person services and online services.

For in-person services, I service the Palm Coast, Florida area through day-training packages. These packages require at least a three week commitment (depending on the package you purchase) and include me working with your dog three times a week, with you once a week, and checking in over the phone or Zoom once a week. This way you both get training, but your dog can get extra training while you are at work or simply enjoying life! Note: All in-person clients must first start with the Orientation Session.

Online services are formatted a little differently then they are for in-person services. Online sessions are paid for session by session through my website and are held over the Zoom video conferencing platform. I also have a pre-recorded online course for puppy owners that you can purchase and have access to any time on your computer.
I also have online memberships that offer more resources that will provide you with access to certain training plans, a special section of my blog that gives step-by-step instructions on how to train various behaviors, and a forum and/or private messaging where you can ask me training questions!

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

To keep people safe from Covid-19, I wear a mask during all in-door training and if I stand within six feet of clients when we are outside. I am also recommending that people look into my online services as I have some great options and can provide virtual instruction on how to train behaviors, including sessions that are focused on how to manage unpleasant behaviors while your dog is still learning or while it is young.
