What do you love most about your job?
What I love most is the teaching aspect of my work. I love seeing people's eyes light up when they learn something new, make connections and find new ways to be an effective communicator!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Oddly, it was because of an epic fail experience I had when trying to help two employees resolve a personal conflict. I did not have the tools at that time, to hold space for and guide the parties in conversation and I desperately wanted to learn how to do that effectively! I became trained as a mediator and, while I loved doing mediations, I was always left with the feeling that if I could have worked with each of these individuals 6 months earlier, I believed they wouldn't have needed mediation for their issue. That takeaway inspired me to build a business focused on effective communication and helping people gain self-awareness around how they handle conflict while learning to see conflict as an opportunity for understanding.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm a dynamic speaker, leader and relationship builder who can engage large groups, small groups and individuals effectively. I am adept at tailoring the content to the personalities in the room and slowing down or speeding up based on the needs of the participants. I am fun, relatable and can make people feel instantly comfortable and welcome!
I've received feedback that I bring a "human-ness" to the touchy topic of conflict. It's something most people want to avoid, but I create space for us to recognize it as a real and valuable component of both our work and personal lives.
One of the best compliments I ever received from an employee was "Carol listens without judgement and creates a space for you to develop and grow into your potential."
A teaching artist I coached said: "Her attention to PEOPLE in particular is one trait I have taken with me, as she constantly reminded us we are not just teachers, but human beings with talents, ideas, and creativity. "
