I love this program
I love this program. I was skeptical at first as it if very expensive and I have tried a board and train before that was cheaper but not worth the money.
Good news is they offer a payment plan. The trainer picked my dog up and dropped him off when he was all finished even though she was 2 hours away. We worked/are working with Tressie and I only have positive things to say about her. She had my 7 month old pup for 4 weeks and she did excellent with giving him more confidence to be a better pup. He has only been home for 3 days now but she helped build his confidence so much that he is like a new pup. I'm not saying he is now perfect, as he isn't but his listening skills have improved at least 90%. Don't go into a training like this thinking there will be no work required by you when they arrive home because you will be disappointed. Work is required but they will guide you through how to handle everything you are having issues with. My pup did get a small injury on his foot during one of his play sessions but she made sure to tell me right away and kept an eye on it while he was there. My favorite part about this program was the daily video updates and the constant communication. It's very nerve wrecking sending your pup away with a stranger for 4 weeks but she reassured me everyday. Not only telling me, but showing me he is doing well. I also loved that he was in her own home and not left in a boarding facility.

We are so very pleased with Dogwise Academy and Njoud as our English bulldog Chato's trainer. Njoud was absolutely professional and caring. I planned a trip to Oregon and needed a trustworthy place to board my dog Freddy, a 6-year old rescue with a history of abuse and abandonment coupled with a seizure disorder.
He was adopted during the COVID pandemic and missed out on essential training, especially because I am a first-time dog parent. Freddy filled the empty space in my heart that was vacant after my son moved to Oregon. In my efforts to love and protect Freddy, I thought I was giving him opportunities to show leadership and independence. I was delighted to see that Freddy made different choices on every walk. He continually stopped to "smell the roses" and pee on every bush. He could even communicate when he disagreed with me by stiffening his legs and refusing to move. Unfortunately he later communicated disagreement by snarling, baring his teeth and charging toward anyone who threatened to take what he believed belonged to him, including my bed. I had horrible back aches, and everyone who visited was afraid of him.
I came to realize that Freddy needed more then a place to board him. I needed the expertise of a professional dog trainer to help undo the mess I created. I knew Freddy loved me, but I needed him to follow commands and to respect me ... and he didn't. After searching websites for trainers, I found a review of Dogwise Academy on bark.com. The decision to enroll Freddy in a one-month boarding and training program to address his anxiety and aggression was one of the best decisions I have made.
After completing a comprehensive assessment, his trainer, Tressie contacted me to discuss our needs, describe the program and answer questions. On day 1, Tressie came to my home and observed how Freddy interacted. During the month he was gone, I received weekly written reports and daily video clips showing his progress. I had daily opportunities to chat or ask questions online. Freddy was continuously and systematically exposed to people and dogs in Tressie's home and in the community. I watched in amazement as Freddy learned to NOT react, and later to even approach strangers and to stand/sit in PLACE without reacting to other dogs that invaded his space. He learned to LEAVE IT when he approached barking dogs during a walk, to sleep in his kennel at night instead of my bed, to walk beside me when told to WALK, and to take my lead.
When Tressie brought him home, she spent hours patiently teaching me the skills needed to promote carry over of his newly acquired behaviors to my home. She remains available to me in case I need help through a chat set up on What's App. Tressie will return in a few weeks to follow up on our training.
It has only been a week, but the change is enormous. I only regret I didn't do it sooner. I am forever grateful to the Dogwise Academy team, and especially to Tressie for her expertise, compassion and patience. I'm not the perfect parent, and Freddy is not the perfect dog. We still make mistakes, but I now have a skill set to recognize when I messed up, and how to fix it ... and I have the support of our Dogwise Academy team.

Tressie is amazing. She picked up our ten month old pittie who needed help with manners. Queso is now an (almost) well behaved pup that we can manage in an apartment. The videos that she provided will enable us to reinforce her good behaviors. And the time we can spend at the dog park will let her run off her puppy energy. Luis was a godsend. I had nothing but a great time with Luis as he was able to turn my Pomsky from this maniac on a leash that would pull nonstop and have massive separation anxiety if I just stepped into another room to this what I would like to call now, a dog, my friend, and I have to say that if it wasn’t for Luis Coming in and such a short notice I don’t know what I would’ve done

My 8 month old Corgi, Frankie, spent 2 weeks with Luis working on potty training and loose leash training.
So far, Frankie has had 0 accidents in our apartment and is a significantly better walker on the streets of NYC.
Luis was always responsive and is clearly experienced in dog training. He also took plenty of time with us at drop off to go through training techniques and answer our questions.

These guys were great. Communicative, reasonable and transparent throughout the entire training session. They did an exceptional job documenting our dog’s progress throughout the training period and were always available to answer questions and concerns. My havapoo Chloe was training with Luis. He was great at keeping me updated on her training. He would send pictures and videos. After a 4 week training she came back a changed dog. She has gained confidence and is a work in progress. Her main issue is separation anxiety, she just got back so I have been following Luis’s guidance. I’m really happy with the training. We are so glad we found Dogwise Academy Dog Training. Njoud provided a personalized and caring training approach for Daisy since she was a rescue and had some behavioral issues.
Njoud has played a critical role in Daisy’s development into a better-behaved companion. Using positive reinforcement and specific training techniques, The dog training tips Njoud provided were priceless!
Within weeks, Daisy has mastered many basic skills and has continued to learn more. In addition, Njoud provided daily progress texts updates and videos during Daisy’s training so we could learn and see Daisy’s progress. At the end of the training we were provided additional training tool to reinforce what was taught to Daisy. Plus we may reach out to Njoud if Daisy needs any refreshers or updates to her ongoing training.

Our very hyperactive 6 month Staffordshire Bull Terrier just wrapped the two week board and train with Luiz over the holidays. My main priorities were potty training and leash training which we saw significant improvement. We transitioned out of pee pads the moment she was back home and is now on a proper schedule with very few accidents thus far. For the leash training, she was better for the first week or so and then started to regress and became more stubborn and refused any commands or cooperation. I called Luiz to explain the regression and he came to our apt in NYC and spent over two hours coaching me and course correcting how I’ve been handling certain situations. In that one in-person session, I witnessed her become completely obedient and listened to 90% of the commands. We went over heel, recall, sit, break, and she stayed sitting until released. He taught me exactly what to do to have the same results moving forward and so far so good! More...

Having had a not-so-great experience with dog trainers in the past I vetted quite a few training companies to find the best fit for our young and very energetic boy Chop. Dogwise was the only company to reach out personally to me via phone call and not just a prerecorded text or email. It was very helpful to actually talk to a live person. Aaron asked many detailed questions to know exactly what kind of training we were looking for and what we wanted addressed with Chop. He was quick to respond with answers to my questions and gave us time to think about our final decision without being pushy. (Extremely important for me know someone was not just after money) They offer so many options for what you’re looking for and Aaron made the whole process of picking a plan very simple and reassuring. They offer payment plan options and have full open and honest communication. Once we decided the right training plan we immediately had access to our trainer Tressie through WhatsApp. I honestly cannot say enough kind words about her! She was readily available with all my questions and concerns and gave us updates with videos every single day of how Chop was doing. The videos are great to have as a reference point now that Chop is home and adjusting to his new way of life! I know Tressie treated Chop just as her own when staying with her because he was sad to see her go. Even though the official training is done we were reassured that any concerns or questions I have in the future can be addressed and will have help with from Tressie. I truly believe this was the best decision we could’ve made for our family and my expectations were exceeded by Dogwise Academy. I’m very happy to be apart of the Dogwise family for life! If you live in the ny nj area then luis is the trainer to go to. I cannot say enough good things about him, he completly changed our frenchies attitude around. Before he started with luis he was snappy and uncontrollable to our other dog when he returned he was well mannored and luis gave us all the techniques needed to keep the training process going on our own. Dogwise’s three-week adolescent training program was a lifesaver for us and our energetic puppy, whose behavior had started to cross that thin line between adorable mischief and juvenile delinquency.
Luis Gutierrez is an outstanding trainer, who was able to get our pup to calm down, focus, and become more confident.
This is our first time raising a puppy, and we had a lot to learn as well. Luis helped us establish realistic expectations based on a dog’s perspective. As a result, we have become far more patient and our interactions are much more positive.
Her behavior has improved greatly, and our bond with her grows stronger each day, setting a foundation for continuous improvement. She is no longer destroying furniture, and daily walks are no longer an ordeal of “running a gauntlet” of stressful doggie encounters.
I would recommend Luis very highly, and our dog loves him.
My only complaint with the Dogwise program (and the only reason I gave it a 3.8 rather than a 5) was on the administrative side. Staff were always courteous and responsive, but I believe they burden trainers with too much time-consuming paperwork, and such things as uploading videos, instead of letting trainers focus on what they do best.
We would often receive training materials and videos several days to a week after they were due.
I think trainers should be able to send the main office staffers their video and brief notes on each dog's progress every day. That way, the office can upload, manage, and send templated reports and videos to customers, and document results for the school’s overall management, record keeping, and benchmarking.
This approach would ensure that customers receive daily feedback more promptly, which would help them to prepare ahead of time for the handoff and reunion with their dogs.
Even with this drawback, we found the Dogwise program very helpful and Luis’ training excellent.

We cannot say enough great things about Njoud! She helped our excited little puppy in so many ways. When Goldie got to her, he was barking nonstop.
He was counter surfing. He was nippy and taking a walk was a serious challenge. After two weeks with.Njoud, Goldie came back calmer and happier. He knows commands like sit, stay, lay, focus and off. Goldie is an absolute joy to walk now, and our family can eat dinner peacefully again!
Njoud was also such a great resource for things like treats and harnesses. She clearly adores dogs and know what she is doing. We feel grateful to have found her!

I want to start this by saying we have had experiences with other dog trainers, who were fair to mediocre at best. By contrast, Dogwise is head and shoulders above the rest. First, their customer service is outstanding. They really do their best to keep in touch and utilize technology at the highest level to make the registration process easy and quick. Followup afterwards was great. We could not have asked for a better and more understanding trainer, Victoria. Her skills and caring were fantastic. She's friendly but professional and in no way condescending considering thar we didn't know what we were doing. Our puppy had a wonderful time on her farm and learned basic commands so well with her that it's been easy to reinforce them now that he's home. So for two weeks my Scottish terrier who was 3 months old when he left for puppy training and all his commands are in German. He was trained by Njoud. Who I can say did an outstanding job of training him. Then added the bell to when he wants to use the bathroom he rings the bell. I can say when I got my Scotty back he is a whole different puppy. He was very smart and quick to pick up her teaching. I got updates and videos of his training everyday. So worth the time and investment for your K9 to learn and in the end I learned more on training as well from Njoud. Most definitely worth having her as your trainer for your K9. We have had a positive turnaround with my grandpup, Billie. Njoud has been awesome! We have a Pit/Boxer mix (solid 57 or so lbs) and she was, to say the least, a handful and so full of energy! ! We got daily videos and updates throughout her training and we appreciated the open communication. The area we needed help with Billie wa to control all that energy. I can honestly say Billie returned calmer. Njoud met with us and showed us how to redirect that energy, and also gave us tips to keep the consistency going forward. Aolanis our trainer is the best!!! She’s truly a dog whisperer! From pick up to handover of our dog has been a great experience with her.
Bailey was an abused dog before we rescued her. She’s an anxious dog, fearful of any noise, timid, mouthy, and has no confidence. Aolanis addressed all these issues with our dog in a very professional way; she also displayed so much care and compassion. She went above and beyond to even clip our dog’s nail which has been super challenging to do, even our groomer wouldn’t do the job.
She updated us regularly on our dog’s progress by sending videos of raw footages and pictures which we appreciated very much while we’re out of the country. Our dog is thriving, happy, and eager to obey all our commands. Bailey is like a new dog! We’re so glad we went to Dogwise Academy, we wished we knew about them sooner! It’s worth the investment. I highly recommend this company.

Our trainer Luis was amazing, from the day of pickup, giving updates everyday, responding to any question or concern that we had during the training.
Prior to the training our dog was very aggressive on a leash towards people and some other dogs and animals.
Was terrified of his crate and it was impossible to leave him home alone for more than two minutes.
Now we feel way more comfortable and safe walking with him, and have no problem leaving the house.
Definitely recommend it to any dog owner who dont have the time or knowledge to put into their dog training

Njoud was fantastic! She has a calm, natural, professional manner training my 9 month old Standard Poodle. The videos were extremely helpful so that I could reinforce her commands when he came home. My dog Mando had TERRIBLE anxiety. To the point that it started making me nervous to take him out of the house. Our trainer Victoria truly worked wonders with him! He use to not be able to just sit and relax without shredding or becoming destructive. He’s able to now just relax on my bed in the evenings no problems and so much better on the leash. Nancy, was my training instructor for my rottweiler Blade. Blade was already five month old and needed to learn the basics of sit, down, stay and walking nicely on the leash.
Nancy did a fantastic job and Blade and I learned a lot. It was so helpful I enrolled for the next level of training. I would highly recommend Nancy, who has a great understanding of how to train dogs, with a loving, caring and gentle attitude. She has a lot of great tricks to help your dog learn quickly and easily.

We did the 6 week program with our rescue, Copper. Max was our trainer and I couldn't imagine a better experience. Max sent us multiple videos and pictures throughout the day for the entire 6 weeks.
He would send us videos teaching us the techniques he used with Copper and thoroughly explained Coppers behaviors and triggers and how to work with him. I could tell our dog was so so so happy and treated like family. Copper was spoiled with all the enriching activities and treasure box of toys Max had. Max is truly a dog lover and you could tell he cared for and enjoyed training our sweet sweet boy. I couldn't thank Max and Dogwise enough for helping us with Copper. This is Copper second time being trained and boy was there a difference. if I could give them a million stars I would. I 100% absolutely positively recommend. Thank you Max !!!!!
Other dog training company that should be unnamed did the following:
1. Said they were strictly positive reinforcement focused but suggested using a shock collar or pinch collar with Copper because they found him challenging to train
2. Copper did not show any real improvement
3. I could tell they were frustrated with Copper in their demonstration videos

Our 3 year old highly aggressive, anxious, unsocial “COVID pup”, Finny, came home more confident and easily redirected using commands after his 6 weeks of Dogwise Academy training from Luis. We were provided daily updates with pictures and video through Whatsapp. Luis was patient and thoughtful not wanting to push Finny too much and risk the chance of regression. We appreciated the regular communication which was comforting to us parents being away from our fur-baby. When Finny was ready to come home, Luis took the time to review all the command with us and let us practice until we were confident we could continue Finny’s training on our own. Having June trained by Nancy was a great experience as well as working with Dogwise! Communication was great and we got a lot of feedback throughout the process. I do wish the screening/evaluation was slightly more as we all agreed June would have benefitted from more time to allow her to reach our goals based on our living environment (we live in a big city but there wasn’t enough time for much training outside of a closed environment). I had two dogs needing a lot of help- A 4 year old pitbull &’ a 1 year old, large shepherd. Being a dog mom of two misbehaved dogs is very hard.
My pitbull is other dog agressive and lacked basic obedience- My Shepherd lacked all basic obedience, leash skills, door manners ect.
Both of my babies worked with Rachel Brown as their trainer and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Getting daily updates and photos makes this whole process so much easier and i still felt so close with my dogs during the whole training process. Rachel worked daily with them on all of the needs we chose to meet for the dogs. Loose leash walking is a dream now. It’s night and day comparing how disobedient they were on the leash to how good they are now. It will take time on my end to completely get the loose leash perfect but the progress they both made with Rachel is amazing. Rachel paid attention to all details when it came to the personalities of my dogs! She was so patient, kind and stern when needed. She truly did such a wonderful job and I can’t wait to have a smoother life with these two due to all the success they’ve made, all thanks to Rachel. Rachel helped my pitbull gain confidence and comfortability with seeing other dogs inside and out! Such a relief. I can’t wait to see where this life takes us three!
I couldn’t reccomend Rachel enough. My dogs adore her and so do I.

I was skeptical about outside training at first because a lot of schools reinforced certain methods I wasn’t happy with until I came across Dogwise. They’re very clear and thorough throughout the entire process from start to end. We can do some training remotely but we focus on board and train programs to kickstart learning and train dogs in a home environment similar to the ones they live in daily. Check-in with us for more information on how we can help remote and in person.
Basic Obedience Board and Train: 2-4 Weeks
The Board and Train programs generally are either 2-4 weeks. The dogs are able to be either picked up or dropped off- depending on the program and the specific dogs needs the majority of training and/or kenneling is done at my home. (Videos and/or Photos of the area are available prior to booking as well as past customer references available.)
Due to the varying nature of each dog’s personality, training drive, temperament, and unique living situation- much of the Board and Train program curriculum may vary due to your family and dog's specific needs.
Additional training can be included in this program however the majority of my clients interested in this program are drawn to it mostly because I do most of the work and they have to maintain and grow the foundation I build.
The basic Puppy and Adolescent Obedience and Board and Train program includes:
Sit
Down
Sit/Stay
Down/Stay
2 Recalls (Called by name)
An everyday recall and an
911 Recall- known as the Really Reliable Recall
No (or comparable correction Cue)
Break (or comparable release cue)
Heel and/or Loose Leash Walking
House/Crate Training
Proper Greetings (People/Dogs)
Daily video and text updates are usually between 10-15 min long, showing the things we’re working on and how to continue and maintain those behaviors once the pup is back home.
The program outlined above is most commonly done over 2 weeks.
Aggression Rehab Program: 4-8 Weeks
Is your dog reactive or aggressive to other dogs, animals, and/or people? Does your dog go over the top when other dogs are in their space?
Aggression is one of the most common and serious problems dogs can face and our experienced trainers are here to help.
During this program, we will work on the specific issues that your dog has. Our trainers will also teach certain commands that they feel will help during the rehabilitation and desensitizing process.
We will also evaluate what changes can be made in your home environment and lifestyle to help in the process of improving your dog’s mental state and decreasing current reactivity to certain settings. This will allow you to carry on the training of desired behaviors once your pup is back home with you.
