Ellie Kennedy
Tim was very easy to work with, very responsive in his communication—from initial contact through the photo shoot and after. I am an interior designer and Tim shot a recent project for me and I’m delighted with the quality of the photos, and excited to add them to my portfolio. He’s great at capturing the nuance of the design style, and how that differs from traditional Real Estate photography. Will use him again. More...

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The simplest secret to great photography of people is to take more than one photo every time. Do you blink? If you are the photographer for two people, take two photos. If there are more than three, take enough photos to scale for the number of people in your shot. You may get lucky and all of the people will have their eyes open for every photo. I've shot a group of 8 with about eight photos taken and the same person blinked in seven. Some people just have a knack.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Questions that I ask of clients are related to the job they have requested. I would like to know the spouse's name, the specific location where the request will be taking place, etc. I also confirm my shoot rate if the job goes longer than the scheduled time.
What do you love most about your job?
Photography is as much about art as it is about documentation of the moment. The instant I take a great photo, it feels good.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Working as a photojournalist, I was around a lot of people all of the time. I am good with people and I enjoy their company. I started my business to continue my excellent photography and to be around people.

Wedding Photography
I have the style of a photojournalist. I intend on telling a story of your wedding day with beautiful photos. My photography can be candid, as a photojournalist, or posed to document with beautiful portraits of you, your family, wedding party, and guests. I'm available for photos that document each step, including rehearsals, special dinners, bridal and groom preparations, the ceremony, reception, and more.
Event Photography
My style is that of a photojournalist. My 35-year career as a photojournalist concluded at the Los Angeles Times at the start of COVID when I began my freelance business. I have a quick eye with the singular intent of creating great photos every time. From corporate events to back-yard parties, think about putting the responsibility of documenting your event with fantastic photography to a professional.
Restoration and Scan
I have repaired photos that were faded, scratched, creased, and a badly damaged image nearly destroyed by a puppy. If you have a cherished family photo(s) that need restoration, consider providing me a digital example for me to quote.
I also can scan prints, negatives, and slides, all with the intent to digitize the images you don't want to lose.
Portrait Photography
Looking for a social-media profile photo, or an engagement photo session with hour loved one? I have a mobile studio that can be used on-location anywhere, even in the ocean, for any kind of portrait.
Maternity Photo Session
Pregnancy is so special, documenting the time in your life with the baby to be is not to be missed. On-location photo sessions anywhere.
Graduation Photo Session
Do you have your graduation gown, cap, and tassel? Let's take some pictures! On-location anywhere, including your campus or any location around Southern California.
Sports (teams and action)
Picture day is an indicator for a change in the seasons. Buttons, portraits, teams, and packages are all available.
My action photos are great. I have the lenses to get close, fast cameras, and the anticipation to get the best photos possible. Any sport.
