My expertise and focus is in two areas: 1. Mentoring individual executives 2. Customized leadership training for organizations My executive mentoring work is focused on helping people who want to substantially enhance their careers, either through skills development or leadership coaching or both. I also specialize in assisting people who are interested in a career change. Since my background includes having been the CEO of two companies plus working through several career transformations personally, I am in a position to provide insights that other coaches who lack this direct experience cannot. The process begins with me helping the client to complete a self-assessment and define their specific goals. Based on these, I then create an actionable roadmap for moving forward. Our interaction can include training on specific management topics, feedback on how to handle various situations, and additional guidance on an on-going basis. For the second area of focus, I develop and deliver customized leadership and management courses across a wide variety of topics. These workshops can be as short as several hours or as long as 2-3 days, and modalities include online via interactive platform, in-person, or using a podcast. I've taught more than 200 Leadership seminars for the American Management Association, and another 100 for other training institutions. Clients represent most industries in the private sector; public entities (Federal, State, and Local); and not-for-profits (association and cause-based). In addition to Leadership training, I also conduct webinars on dozens of topics which are highly relevant in today's difficult world. Examples are managing stress, overcoming burnout, work/life balance, Emotional Intelligence, conflict resolution, teamwork and collaboration, performance management, and post-COVID employee motivation among many others. My experience is more diverse than that of most consultants, and this translates to versatility. I was the CEO of two tech companies, and then I taught marketing and finance in the MBA program at Johns Hopkins University for ten years. In addition, I've facilitated hundreds of seminars on a wide variety of leadership and "soft skills" topics. As avocations, I became a certified fitness trainer and a head college lacrosse coach. Therefore, I understand wellness in its broadest sense and have often included that in my mentoring of executives and business owners. Having worked in many industries and different environments, I'm able to "hit the ground running" whenever engaging with a new client. This diverse experience also enables me to bring multiple perspectives to any and all challenges.
