Michelle Dixon Holistic Trauma Therapy

Adults + Youth Counselling/Mentorship. Does it feel like your past trauma is driving your experience in life? It’s possible to change that so you can operate from a healthier, more confident and self-loving place. I give you strategies and tools to work with symptoms as they arise, from flashbacks and negative thinking/catastrophizing to social anxiety and much more. Whether we use mindfulness techniques, neurolinguistic processes or somatic practices, I have a large toolkit from which to draw in order to support you to make lasting changes, find your purpose, and reach your goals. I don’t apply a one-size-fits all approach; rather, I give my clients practical tools they can use to change how they experience their life. My clients are often adult survivors of difficult childhoods and well as young people (I am a qualified youth mentor and mother of three young adults).

What do you love most about your job?

I'm very grateful to be a trauma specialist as there is so much suffering in the world and to be able to hold a client in complete compassion and help them find their own inner strength and learn the strategies to survive and thrive is an absolute blessing. My core value is to be of service in this life, so I cannot imagine being in any other profession! I feel so much gratitude each time a client has an aha moment and - after months or more - is able to say 'I feel so much lighter'.

What inspired you to start your own business?

You can read my entire journey here:
https://michelle-dixon.com/my-journey/
I retrained as a practitioner with a speciality in trauma after being an academic and a mother to 3, and seeing the need to support people to live well despite past suffering. I began with body-based therapies and my qualifications include a range of bodywork modalities that helped me understand how the nervous system holds and can release held trauma. I then did mind-based changework to help my clients rewire their thinking, using hypnotherapy, mindfulness and more.

Why should our clients choose you?

I don't use a one-size-fits-all approach and I'm not stuck in one particular paradigm. Over ten years I've done multiple practitioner trainings and gained a large toolkit of change techniques, including hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and body-based trauma release, so actually it's my client who drives our sessions and it's their circumstances which determine which tool we use. Crucially, I give my clients strategies and tools to use at home in order to learn how to heal and build resilience. I have a top-rated Udemy course on self-care and an online program for trauma healing, in addition to multiple publications and I have been a guest on many podcasts about holistic trauma healing too (see https://michelle-dixon.com)

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, my business is mostly online though I see some clients in Sydney. I use Zoom but can use other video call platforms if need be.
