Sexy Jesus Karaoke (SJK) is a professional karaoke company run by Shaun McGehan, aka “Sexy Jesus.” It has become one of Denver’s favorite night life activities in the downtown area!
Sexy Jesus, the karaoke host, was christened in 2015 at Hamburger Mary’s, later known as M Uptown, and has run an active karaoke business since.

We hired Shaun as our wedding DJ and karaoke host this past August. Hands down, he was our best vendor. He was incredibly professional and a joy to work with (sounds dramatic, but it's true!
). He showed up early to our venue walkthrough, provided all his own high-quality equipment (two separate sound systems), and his communication throughout was both clear and understanding.
We provided VERY specific song queues for the ceremony, like, "fade in at 2:17 and fade out at 3:03," and he did them all perfectly. For the reception, two floors up, we used his second sound system for dinner tunes along with his nice wireless mics for speeches. Then, when the dance started, he had a great lighting setup and followed the mood of the crowd while staying within our Spotify playlist. My family loves karaoke and Shaun made sure they had a great time, alternating between dancing and karaoke seamlessly. I really can't say enough good stuff about him. Hire Sexy Jesus!

How would you describe your ‘style’?
My job as a karaoke dj is to make sure everyone is having fun and to make every singer feel like a star when they're on the microphone.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the joy it brings to people as they dance and sing the night away. And singing of course ;)
What inspired you to start your own business?
Karaoke was the hobby at the local bar that got me through college and after college I ended up becoming the fill in host at my local bar since everyone already knew me, one thing led to another and now I'm going on five years of being able to do my favorite thing for a living.
Why should our clients choose you?
I bring a community first approach to karaoke, meaning everyone feels welcome and included at my shows be they 7 or 70, whether they're singing or not, my goal is always to keep everyone who wants to participate included in whatever way is most comfortable for them.

During the last year I actually have established a virtual karaoke format via Zoom that I have hosted weekly karaoke as well as private parties since April 2020.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have a singing shield to separate singer from audience, as well as microphone covers for any who would like them, I also sanitize the microphone after each singer - though I was been doing that long before Covid-19.
