Hair of the Dog

This place is incredible. I discovered it because I used to live close by, but now I drive 30 min to get there since moving because I do not want to go to a new place. The prices are fair and my dogs always come back happy. My little guy is super picky about his groomers, and usually comes home grumpy from other places, but when I pick him up from Hair of the Dog he is happy and peppy! Another huge plus that makes it so worth the drive is that the groomers here are comfortable working with dogs that have disabilities. My little guy lost the use of his front leg after battling cancer, but it doesn't phase the groomers here. They do a fantastic job regardless. the real deal - locally owned - personal care - owner always on site and incredibly accommodating. I have been going to Hair of the Dog for five years and my dogs have always been seniors which in itself can be challenging for the groomer and for the dog. This is my go-to dog groomer for my main squeeze, Vegas. Most dog groomers are nervous when I bring in my 145 pound lap dog, but Amy always shows him love and affection. Vegas has severe skin allergies and I'm a bad dog mom that doesn't bring him in nearly enough. It's a judge free zone when his nails are too long. Any really is sweet and Vegas always looks forward to seeing her. The prices are reasonable - most other places charge significantly more for larger breeds. Went today2/13/2017 for a wash, nails, massive de- shedding.  Picked up my dog and couldn't be happier!! She looked Great! They took great care of her ! And the groomer today was fantastic! I have a rescue that is extremely anxiety ridden. Hair of the dog is awesome she has been there three times and they have groomed her and she loves them and they do a great job. We have been taking our two beloved Bichons here for the past five years. Brewster and Kipper are a bit on the high maintenance side and Amy and her staff are beyond amazing! Their customer service is spectacular and they have always treated our spoiled pooches with a lot of love and TLC. Highly recommend! I will never take my dog to any other groomer. I heard great reviews about this place, and wanted to have my puppy groomed. The owner, Amy and her staff at this wonderful place are totally professional and welcoming. I felt very at ease leaving my dog there, while I did some shopping, they gave her the full 'spa treatment'. When I picked up my dog, she was cleaner than ever, well trimmed, and had a shiny coat that lasted for weeks. The products they use are amazing. I'll admit I was a bit turned off about how you couldn't see into the grooming area (I'm used to my Tempe cage free open groomer) but I recently moved to the north valley and was extremely pleased. Hair of the dog is great! They were able to accommodate me with a same day appointment and my dogs look fantastic! My dogs were cut exactly like I asked. You can not beat these prices, it was $80 for a full groom for both dogs and then with tip is was $95! My Morkie was full of mats and was a mess and now she is silky and amazing.My Pomeranian who is difficult to groom has a round cut face and looks great.I will definitely be using them again! More...

Both my dogs go here....One of my dogs that goes there is a cavalier King Charles spaniel which can be challenging to groom but they do amazing she always comes out happy and refreshed and cute as a button (which she always is) and my second dog is a Lhasa apso poodle mix she is still a pup she had her first big dog hair cut there they did amazing especially since she a nervous little dog. You cannot beat the price or speed of Hair of the Dog.  This little local grooming shop does a good job and only charges $35 to groom my 15 pound Maltese/Jack Russell mix (prices go up based on the size of the dog).  Hair of the Dog also gets the job done in about 2 hours or so.  That's at least $10 cheaper and and and an hour and a half quicker than the big box pet store down the street from me.The owner is really nice.  She always remembers my dog and me whenever I call for an appointment.  She's also been very accommodating on the days that I've called to see if she could squeeze him in at last minute.The only real negatives are that Hair of the Dog is not open on Sundays or Mondays.  But it's a small business and people are definitely entitled to a day or two off each week.  There also have been a few times where I've gotten home and noticed that my dog's ear or tail fur were left ridiculously long (hard to tell in the shop when he's running and jumping all over the place, but I'll consider that my bad for not being observant enough when I picked him up.Hair of the dog is a wonderful place to take your dog to.  I highly recommend supporting this local small business. Great people, great grooming, great prices.  What else does one need?  My dog actually gets all excited to go here, and he comes back so cute and well done!  Amy's so sweet and obviously a dog lover.  Once or twice it seems that either this has been forgotten or maybe just wasn't finished - the ever so fun hair plucking from ears of a poodle - so i'll need to ask, but otherwise, the best.  And family owned!  I've already recommended them to others. I took my dog there recently for a summer shave down and she came out looking so much better than expected.  She is a bit scared of new places and people, but they reported back that she did good and she seemed to be pretty happy with her new do when I picked her up.  The price was great and I look forward to continuing to take her there in the future. I Took my maltese to Hair of the Dog first time and I was very, very pleased, they did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them to anybody. My little maltese a male looked handsome when he was finished. when I was walking him, someone commented he does not have the petsmart cut, meaning shaved off.  I cannot say enough about this place and my husband gave a generous tip and we were driving away and he said I should of given them more Bentley looks great. I had to find a new groomed for girl Gracie as her last groomer had retired. I was concerned about finding the right place because my sweet girl is an old lady. I was so impressed, I loved the little shop. My dog seemed to find positive energy and had a great experience. I felt bad because I was late picking her up and when I got there, they had taken Gracie for a walk and she was out and about enjoying the company. Couldn't say anything more on how happy I was. Just took my dog Izzy to Hair of the Dog and she loved it.  The business owner Amy is a true dog lover and her little store in front of the grooming station is so cute and full of fun little doggie accessories.  Izzy is a rescue dog so she needs extra TLC during her grooming and they were really gentle with her and put a cute bow on her collar at the end.  Everything went great and I was very happy with the service, pricing, grooming, and the products I purchased.  Highly recommend. ~  Kim More...

I cannot say enough good things about Hair of the Dog. I moved to Scottsdale a few years ago and tried 3 or 4 groomers before I was lucky enough to try hair of the dog. I have two little Maltese which are not easy dogs to groom, a lot of lazy groomers out there who don't take their time and just cut them really short. One of my dogs is really bad when it comes to getting baths and haircuts and they still put up with his bad behavior and manage to make him look great. Its a locally owned business, the owner Amy really cares about you and the dogs. Good prices, great service, easy to make appointments. I recommend them to everyone who needs a dog groomer. More...
