Mediation for Family Law
Litigants are required to participate in mediation before having a hearing or trial before the Judge except for some limited circumstances. I also provide pre-suit mediation so parties can settle their case before filing which will reduce the time and expense of obtaining a divorce or dealing with timesharing for their children.
Collarborative Divorce
This is a team approach to settling divorce issues, timesharing with the children, divisions of assets and debts. It is usually done pre-filing. It also limits the amount of private family information that is in a public court file. Parties can even keep their financial affidavits out of the prying eyes of the public. Both are represented by separate counsel and a financial planner assists with division of assets, debts and any tax issues. An accountant can also be involved. A facilitator is involved to assist with a timesharing plan for children. This is a more amicable approach, limits hostility, and results in much happier children.
