So, can talking to someone help? ABSOLUTELY! Regardless of the reason you might keep it in, talking has powerful psychological benefits that might not be obvious. Life can throw up many challenges and I am able to offer a safe, supportive, confidential environment for adults and young people to talk through and try and make sense of what they are finding difficult. Sometimes, we can struggle to find the words to share our internal world or communicate our feelings.

I'm an experienced counsellor working face to face & online with anyone over 12 years of age. I'm friendly and approachable so my clients feel comfortable with me making it easier for them to talk about whatever is going on in their lives. I have successfully helped clients with a variety of issues including anxiety, anger, bereavement, self-harm, addiction, low self-esteem, relationships issues and self-improvement to name a few. I also work with people who have experienced trauma using the Rewind Technique which is a highly effective method of significantly reducing the involuntary recall of the trauma and associated emotions. I strongly believe that we are all essentially "OK" but that life can throw many things at us that cause us to believe we are not. Together we can talk about what has left you feeling less than "OK" and find a way back to a place of self-confidence and belief. I will listen to you without judgement, I won't tell you what to do but we'll work together to give you confidence in your own ability to make the changes you want to see. The therapeutic relationship that we form will be an important part of the work we do together, once you feel relaxed and able to trust me you will be more open to exploring those parts of you that you have kept protected and hidden but are causing you pain or getting in the way of your relationships with those around you. Each one of us is unique and the way I work with you will reflect that. As well as talking, I am able to use various techniques such as visualisation, music and art to help you express feelings which can sometimes be difficult to put into words. We can explore these different techniques and find what works for you. If you are a parent/guardian looking for a therapist for your son or daughter can I suggest that you look at my profile together, include them in the process of choosing a counsellor, they will be much more likely to engage when we meet if it is a joint decision. I offer a free introductory 30 minute consultation which gives you the opportunity to meet me before committing to pay for ongoing sessions. We can talk about your expectations and how I can support you to achieve your aim. I am based in the centre of Basingstoke close to public transport links and the M3, there is also free parking available.
I love spending time with people and ultimately helping them to understand themselves more clearly. I count it a privilege that clients are willing to be open and vulnerable with me. The best part is watching a client become more aware of themselves and how they and others relate to them enabling them to make changes and improve their lives.
I started the business because I know the value of talking to someone about how you feel; friends and family can be a really valuable resource but meeting with a professional who is trained to listen in a non-judgemental way is very empowering. Having completed my training in 2013 I worked as a School Counsellor and decided in 2016 that having my own business would provide me with greater flexibility to work in a way that suits both myself and my clients. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work according to their Code of Ethics.
You should choose me because I'm good at what I do. I am a professional, friendly and non-judgemental counsellor and I invite you to come and meet me and decide for yourself if I am the therapist for you.
