What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Training, experience and natural talent is what I have found gives me the skills to take great photos.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I will first need to know what the client's needs are and what is the scope of the project. I also need to know the time frame of when the job has to happen and when it has to be completely. Obviously budget is always an important topic to discuss.
What do you love most about your job?
I love taking pictures. It's just that simple. It's what I do, and what I've always done. I will organize holidays based on where I can get the most unique photos. I enjoy capturing architecture to showcase someone else's vision.
My kids are constantly forced to pose for me.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I found that I can spend more time on individual projects and focus completely on them if I had control of my own scheduling. Having my own business means I can give 100% to each client.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have 2 decades worth of experience and I know what I'm doing. Plus I'm very pleasant to work with. :)
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I go to where the job is, obviously taking photos means I have to travel, and I'm perfectly happy with that. The retouching that I do is done remotely in my home office. When the photos are done, I will upload to a server online so the client can then download the high resolution images.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
During the worst of Covid I was living in Hong Kong, and the country never closed. When we moved to England a year ago, there was no real issue with Covid. SO I can't say anything really changed.
Architecture
I have photographed a lot of commercial projects from quirky little start-ups to the Google headquarters in Beijing, I always pride myself on being able to capture the true essence of a building, the brand, the space, and the people that work and live there. I love to let the design and lighting of the space shine through in my work, and I’ve spent many years honing my craft so
I can take the best photos possible. I’ve been retouching my own photos since I started working in the industry, so I’m a bit of a Photoshop wizard. I have a specific look and feel I like to give my photos, and I always see each project through to the end. From concept to post-production, I always make sure my work looks amazing, and the client is happy.
Interiors / Real Estate
For 9 years I worked with Hong Kong’s biggest and most prestigious real estate company photographing thousands of the most incredible houses and apartments in and around Hong Kong.
I worked with interior designers to make small spaces look inviting and way bigger than they are. I capture the space to show the designers vision while also getting lifestyle vignettes that are magazine quality.
Corporate and family portraits
My main body of work is architecture, but I started out 20 years ago photographing people, both in the studio and on location. From fashion and corporate portraits to family photos, I pride myself on making people feel comfortable in front of the camera.
I have two toddlers, and I capture their lives in photos as often as I can, and I love doing the same for others. I'm particularly good at capturing the essence of the family dynamic, and I like to think my passion for my work shines through in every project I work on.
