Review I met Alastair in Spain on a free diving retreat. Originally Alastair was taking underwater photos for the week which were such a treat to be able to take home after the week of hard work. I also am a yoga teacher and ask Alastair if he could do a shoot for my website. We got up on the roof at sunrise to do some yoga photos. I was totally blown away by alastairs creativity and the way he had captured every single shot. I loved every single one of the images and are still to date my favourite photos. What I love about Alastair is how down to earth he is and how comfortable he made me feel, as taking photos can seem unnatural at times, but Alastair has a way of making you feel like you are just 2 friends hanging out creating something fun together. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
For me a great photograph is capturing personality. This could be the love between a partner, an emotion or utter joy of a child playing. If a picture stops you in your tracks then I think you have achieved a great photograph!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
The first barrier to cross is getting your client to relax and trust you. So just starting conversation and finding what makes them tick will help in the outcome of my style of photography.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety where no one day is the same. On the whole, most events are a celebration of sorts so my clients tend to be in their happy places.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been behind the camera for almost 3/4 of my life. Seeing my work published and the feedback I have received is more rewarding than anything I have experienced in my previous working roles.
