Maths Tutoring

Keith has made my daughter Holly enjoy Maths and give her alot more confidence.
He is reliable and would happily recommend his tutoring to anybody.
Holly has improved so much and this is down to Keith's excellent tutoring and as parents we aren't getting so stressed trying to help her.
A win for the whole family.

Tutoring

Keith is a fantastic tutor. He is currently tutoring our 11 year old (year 6) in maths. Keith was professional from the outset and offered us detailed information about his style of tutoring and what he could offer us which made him really easy to choose as the right tutor for our son. Keith offers flexibility in all aspects of his tutoring and works with you as the parent to tailor sessions so you can be as involved as you want to be. Feedback is provided after sessions and Keith goes above and beyond his role as a tutor. Would definitely recommend. More...

Thank you for the time and thought that went into writing this. I really appreciate your positive comments! Tutoring a child is very much a three-way partnership between child, parent(s) and tutor. As a tutor, I find it so helpful to find out how the children I work with have been getting on at school as this helps me tailor my sessions to meet their specific needs. Equally, feeding back to a parent on their child's progress makes them feel involved and informed in the process, as well as guiding them as to how they can provide further support themselves.

Tutoring

Keith was extremely responsive to my initial messages and also was pro-active and knowledgeable during our initial conversation. Whilst we agreed upon the initial areas of focus, he also offered a very flexible approach to our requirements should we need it. He has a very friendly manner and my son was immediately put at ease upon meeting Keith and was extremely positive about his first session. I am confident that Keith’s input and teaching will be of great benefit going forward. More...

Thank you for your kind comments. Whilst I believe it is important to have a clear focus when tutoring, it is also necessary to be flexible and responsive to changing needs. I am always happy to alter my focus, either temporarily or permanently, in order that it better meets the current needs of your child.

Q&As

Light bulb moments when I have helped a child who has previously been struggling with a concept or skill and then makes sense of it. Still priceless after all these years!

After 26 years of being a teacher and school leader, I felt in need of a change but knew that I still retained the passion I have always had for working with young people and helping them to develop into the best versions of themselves. Tutoring is a great way of achieving this and starting my own business gives me greater flexibility as to my working pattern.

In my long and successful career as a fully-qualified teacher, I have built up a wide range of highly relevant skills and knowledge that I am now pleased to be able to offer in a slightly different context. I also undertake to provide bespoke sessions that fully meet the needs of your child at a cost that is competitive in comparison with similar services.

Yes, using a platform called Bramble. This is designed for and is widely used by tutors. Its simplicity makes it suited for use by primary-aged children but it also offers a great level of functionality.

I am fully aware of the Covid protocols and am happy to wear a face mask when working face-to-face. Some of my clients have also asked to temporarily move online, which I have been happy to accommodate. I have received all three Covid vaccinations and am able to provide an up-to-date Covid Pass upon request.

Services

I have considerable and successful recent experience in preparing Year 6 children for sitting their SATs tests and can offer tutoring, both face-to-face and remote, in Mathematics, Reading and SPaG. I provide a bespoke service and am equally comfortable working with children aiming to achieve age-related expectations (ARE) or the greater depth standard (GDS).

Are you looking for a fully qualified tutor to provide your child with a little extra after-school support? Perhaps you are home-schooling and are in need of some expert help? With 26 years of successful experience as a junior school teacher of children aged 7 to 11, I am able to offer a high level of general tutoring in all primary subjects, both face-to-face and remotely, that is bespoke to the needs of your child. I am also very comfortable working with younger secondary aged pupils from Year 7 and Year 8 (ages 11 to 13), particularly those who need help consolidating and re-learning concepts previously covered in primary school.

With many years successful experience of working with able primary aged mathematicians, I can provide bespoke face-to-face or online tutoring that will develop your child's mathematical reasoning, problem-solving and higher order thinking skills. Suitable for both developing a love of the subject or exam preparation.

Is your child an able and fluent reader but needs to develop their technique in reading for deeper understanding and answering higher order comprehension questions? If the answer is yes, I can provide a bespoke service that uses a range of high-quality texts (including examples from past SATs/11 plus papers, where appropriate). I work both face-to-face and remotely via a platform called Bramble that is specifically designed with online tuition in mind, meaning that geographical location is no barrier. My service is suitable for exam preparation or simply developing love and appreciation of text.
